Description: At the Living Room, we identify the freshest and most naturally produced foods, creating world-class menu selections from what can be purchased through local, organic producers. This is the slow-food philosophy at work, and we believe it makes for the best-tasting meals in the Hamptons. Our chef uses the slow-food process to "cook with the seasons", coming up with mouth-watering menus of cuisine he calls "new American with a Scandinavian twist". Signature dishes include Scandinavian classics like Toast Skagen and exquisite desserts like Spring Strawberry Rhubarb Crisp with homemade honey vanilla gelato and Catapano Goat Cheese Tarte with homemade lingonberry sorbet. To complement, you can choose from more than 200 vintages from our extensive wine cellar. From local Long Island varietals to organic Oregonian boutique blends and standards from Europe, there is a wine for every mood and food at The Living Room.

We had a wonderful dinner in the garden. They have changed the menu and it was absolutely delicious. Fresh seasonal vegetables and fruits were used to make creative dishes. The service was perfect. I've been to most restaurants this season and this was by far the best meal.
Highlights- chicken, lentil risotto and peaches w mint.
Also excellent for Gluten Free celiac

Horrible place! I purchased a Groupon in March worth $100 for a high tea for 4 friends. I called the day before letting them know we wanted to come in and make reservations for the High Tea. The woman on the phone said we didn't need one just come in. My friends and I took off from work. It took 2- 1/2 hours to get there. We gave them the Groupon and then the manager approached us and said they were no longer accepting Groupons for High Teas. (NOTE: it did not Expire). I explained to the manager Ben that we called the day before to confirm, took off from work and drove 2 1/2 hours to get there. He said to call Groupon for a refund. I was very disappointed that he did not try to accommodate us in anyway as to offer the same discount for other food if they did not have the High Tea. It didn't matter to Ben that we called the day before, took off from work and drove 2 1/2 hours to get there. This is poor management!  Hamburgers on the menu were $24. Stay away from this overpriced restaurant. They don't accommodate their patrons.

The inn is quite unexpected once you get inside with its eclectic lobby level decor which we loved. From the outside you expect otherwise. We went for high tea on a Sunday afternoon which fell way short of our expectations. We did purchase a Groupon which sometimes impacts how you are treated but we soon realized we were in good company observing the other tables presenting theirs as well. Our waiter, who admitted he was new on the job, basically plopped a cutting board with our high tea selection on the table with no explanation. Given my addiction to high tea and having experienced many, this was quite surprising. The other tables had their food presented on the typical 3 tier tray; we had no idea why we got the wooden cutting board which was not attractive. After mentioning that a description of the items would be appreciated and we were offered one in brief. Also had to ask for clotted cream and jam for our scones. The bread on the tea sandwiches was stale probably from sitting out in the air. Wasn't horrible and wasn't good. I would not go back.

I've been going to brunch and dinner at The Living Room at the Maidstone for the past 5 years. The interior is a treat, cozy and colorful, and the food is excellent (aside from a rough patch a couple of years back when they had some kitchen staff turnover). The Swedish meatballs are super tasty and a great fallback to seasonal seafood and fare. And it is often less crazy, and certainly less loud than other comparable East Hampton options.

The atmosphere was wonderful, with indoor seating with various couches, chairs, and decor. The outside had tables with white tablecloths as well, and a couple of couches and cushioned seats, in a garden setting. It was quiet and enjoyableWe weren't rushed and the staff attended to us in a timely manner without hovering over us. We had a choice of about 10 teas for high tea and had mini sandwiches, warm scones and similar cakes, and a few mousse like desserts, that came on a tier. We did not have a choice with the tier options. Overall, great atmosphere and staff. I would've picked different mini sandwiches if I had a choice.
