“Winter wedding was cozy”

Highlands Country Club
Reviewed 26 February 2018

I was there on a rainy evening, so I didn't get to experience the grounds or the views. However, there were fireplaces keeping the rooms cozy and warm. The food: appetizers, salad, meal and rolls were outstanding. The wedding meal included a caprese salad, flint steak and potatoes. All were just delicious and presented beautifully.

Attended my Niece’s wedding in June 2017. The location and grounds provide a lovely, “garden party” atmosphere. Guests were greeted, valet-parked, and offered a cold beverage. The weather was quite warm, so the cool drink was a refreshing beginning of what would be a lovely day. SET UP:Garden-style furniture was set outdoors, mostly in the lawn where the sun did prove to be a bit hot for the older folks who found delightful “front-porch” refuge and comfortable seating.WEDDING SERVICE: chairs were set theater style and accommodated our entire group of around 125 ppl. The bride and groom were framed by mature trees, song-birds chirped. The venue provided a sturdy ramp to accommodate my niece’s maid of honor who requires a wheelchair.NOISE: once the ceremony began, all of the noise issues did as well. The kitchen fans and air conditioning noises drowned out the guitarist and the wedding ceremony. The found system was inadequate. Noise from the adjacent homes was a bit invasive. But we enjoyed all of the visual attributes of the setting.INTERIOR DESIGN AND DECOR: Beautifully set tables and a dance floor large enough to accommodate. The French Doors led to the garden and really was enjoyed as the night went on. FOOD: delicious and well-prepared and plated nicely. the service was professional pleasant. The one area that really fell short was dessert and “coffee” service-timing was off. Asking for tea meant waiting a long time. TIP: one restroom on the main floor, but a second upstairs. There was a long wait to accommodate my 83 year old mom, but he restroom was clean and had ample provisions. A nearly five-star evening. SUGGESTIONS FOR MANAGEMENT: improve sound system. Cut back on the A/C during the ceremony, a few lovely shade umbrellas during hot days. Maybe speak with neighbors and extend some “offer” in Exchange for maintain more quite during the hour-long ceremonies. The venue is close to the magnificent Hudson River, but the River can not be seen. The only star lost was due to noise interruptions.

Nice scenic views. The catered buffet was good. The layout is a little weird due to the fact that if something is going on in one of the other rooms the guest have to walk through the center room to get to the bathroom making your event a little less private.

I got married here in May and everything couldn't have been more exceptional. The Highlands is the perfect setting for a small wedding (we had 75 people). The reason we chose the place was because there are multiple options in case of poor weather, but we fortunately had a beautiful day; ceremony and cocktail hour outside, reception in the main room. Danielle West, our day of coordinator was extremely accommodating and did not miss a beat on any of my special requests for the day. I didn't get to taste the food too much but I heard good reviews from my guests!
