Our first visit to Belhurst Castle and we really wanted to enjoy Edgar's Steakhouse. It was a very nice meal and the room where we sat was on the porch. Weird lighting that was too bright. They need candles on the tables and lowered lights. This place needs lots of updating like new window treatments (or no window treatments) and fresh paint, washed windows, new chairs without rips and just a general freshening up. Nice service staff, good food and overall value is good. Put some money into the "look" and you've got a real winner! Had to tell a woman next to me whose cellphone went off 4 times during our $200 meal to silence her phone. I would recommend a note in your menu or perhaps your wait staff can ask guests to be courteous to others. This was my first full day in NY and 2 or our 3 meals we had experiences with cell phones going off inside the restaurant, taking calls, etc. Manners people!

Had a nice anniversary dinner with very reasonable prices and slightly slow service. Crab cake appetizer and steaks were excellent. We had breakfast as well - this is a bit weird in that there is a very limited cold continental and yet you are seated by a waiter with a hot breakfast menu and a bit of an upcharge pitch. Breakfast service was horrible but I think it was slow kitchen staff.

This is a review of the lunch buffet offered at Belhurst Castle. I suppose technically it can be called a buffet, but it falls way short of any buffet I have ever seen in my many travels. First of all, the few items on the table were very incohesive. There were two meats offered- dried out baked chicken with a dollop of barbecue sauce poured on top, and pulled pork with barbecue sauce poured on it. There was a kale caesar salad ( very tough and fibrous) which had mushy, dressing soaked croutons in it. The only other side dish was a pasta made from chick peas. It was very al dente and had an extremely gritty texture. It wasn't edible. No rolls or butter or any other starches. The soup was a beef stew (probably made from leftovers) which had the consistency of wallpaper paste. The buffet costs over $13.00 with tax and did not include any beverage or dessert. It was a couple of more dollars for a very small soft drink. I ate there about 7 years ago and it was much, much better so obviously something has changed. Belhurst Castle is a beautiful venue and should be embarrassed to put out such a limited amount of horrible food like that and call it a buffet. Their management team really needs to evaluate the buffet and perhaps change to another type of lunch because it falls way short of what a buffet is supposed to be.

Steaks are very pricey for the quality. You pay for the experience of eating here instead of the quality of the meal. All sides were a la carte. You get a choice of a seasoned rub or just salt and pepper on your steaks. Not sure if there was a new cook or something wrong with the grill. I ordered my steak blue, it came out partially blue, partially rare and even medium rare. My wife's was supposed to be medium and was rare. We did send hers back and had it fixed. Hers was one of the poorest cut NY strip steaks i ever seen. The asparagus and the mushroom risotto were the best parts of the meal.

Stopped in for lunch. We had dined on previous years and were quite satisfied. Not so this year. Soup was extremely salty, the roast beef could have been used as shoe Lester , the pork loin was again over salted And that is the extent of the available food. We had to request bread from the wait staff. Coffee and cold tea were extra...and all this awful lunch was over forty dollars for two people. Never again... We could get bad food at McDonald's for a lot less.
