Immaculately preserved and the owner lives right there to tell you all about the history. Lots of interesting antiques. Room was very spacious and lovely. If you love lilacs, go in the spring. You get a tour with your stay and the owner is happy to tell you as much as you are interested in. If you like historical places with nice antiques then don’t miss this place. and go to Stewart’s for icecream

Riding from Lake George New York, leaving late in the afternoon, a friend and I found ourselves wandering around some steep very curvy mountain roads. After sunset, we decided it would be safer to wait until daylight to continue on. We tried some other spots in Granville, New York...but they were either strangely vacant with a no vacancy sign, or they were booked full. We lucked up into a great room, in a historic mansion. The owner Stephen met us at the door and welcomed us in with good conversation and an atmosphere that felt like we were stopping in at an old friend's house. Out of the travels my friend and I have ever been on, this was by far the best find. The price point for the suite was exceptionally competitive when compared to some of the hotels we've stayed at before, and they were single room affairs. I've never been in this part of the country before, but I would certainly feel drawn back just to stay at this place. Breakfast in the morning was good, and so was the coffee. If you haven't tried a bed and breakfast for a stay yet, you need to try this place.

Room Tip: Ask the owners for a good room, and they will take care of you.

I recently stayed at the Sheldon Mansion for one night, and it was a great experience! It was very cool to hear about the history of the mansion; the hosts were very knowledgeable and friendly. Not only did they tell us a lot about the mansion, but they were great to talk to overall. Additionally, the breakfast in the morning was very good! We were given French Toast and bacon, along with orange juice and cranberry juice. There was also coffee set out in the morning which we were able to help ourselves to in the morning. I greatly enjoyed my stay at the Sheldon Mansion, and I would strongly recommend staying here to anyone who happens to be in the area.

This is a great historical B&B, and much more than just a great place to stay. The owners provide significant details and stories of the history of the building and the renovation that was beautifully done. The room we had was large and very nicely decorated with furnishings that are all appropriate for a mansion of this type. The breakfast was also excellent and the hosts were flexible on the time each guest wanted to eat. I highly recommend this as a place to stay when in the area!
