Every thing good the other reviewers say is true. Great conscientious hosts in a quiet location but near to Cullinary Institute of America, the Hudson, FDR library etc. The breakfast was fabulous - and no way to leave hungry! The only thing to be aware is they have a double heating and cooling system, that one should be sure they understand how to use. It probably won't be an issue in the summer, but could be in the fall, and was for us in the spring on a warm day. To explain, they have a central heating system with hot water to the radiators in the room. (With that I can't imagine anyone being cold in the winter.) Apparently it is on a default, so was working on a hot day when we arrive. In order to cool the room, one needs to use the in room A/C which is controlled by a remote. What I missed and the couple we were travelling with in the next room missed was that you have to point the remote at the white small AC unit high up on the wall. I know - duh! I kept clicking the remote per the instructions but didn't realize it needed to be pointed somewhere, as I missed that there was a small white AC unit up high. (Our friends had the same problem) If you don't understand, just make sure you ask the owners, as I know they will be glad to explain it. Fortunately I was able to open windows so didn't suffer too much the one night I stayed. (Our friends didn't do quite as well, but they made it.) And that was another nice thing - they let us only stay one night which we appreciated.

Thank you for your wonderful review and for making us aware of the confusion with the operation of the heating/cooling system. We have added additional instructions so this does not happen to future guest. We look forward to seeing you again.

A lovely B&B in a perfect location near the Hudson River. The hosts (Jane and Neil) were so warm, friendly and helpful. They certainly love what they do, and take great care of their beautiful home inside and out.
We stayed in the Fireside room for two nights in April. There were three of us, and the room was so so spacious, very clean, and lovely. The breakfast was so delicious and plentiful. Thanks Althea (sp?). There were two different fresh baked breads, jam made from their garden, fruit, and always two or three hot entrees. So delicious!
We visited the FDR museum, Vanderbilt mansion, Eleanor Roosevelt's home, walkway over the Hudson, brewery, CIT Institute, etc. All these sites and more are very close by and easy to locate. Neil and Jane were informative and helpful.
I would highly recommend to all.

Room Tip: Fireside room was great for 3 people.

An overnight visit to this lovely bed and breakfast just wasn't enough. The hosts are warm and welcoming. The rooms are lovely and the breakfast is one I will remember for a long time. I can't wait to get back.

If you want a quiet, romantic getaway, located in the heart of the Hudson River's great sites, look no further than the Stonegate Bed and Breakfast. The FDR Home & Library, a Vanderbilt mansion and the incomparible Culinary Institute of America, are all just minutes from the Stonegate. Only four immaculate rooms provide a quiet, restful homebase after a day of touring. Breakfast is hot and filling and the leftover baked goods disappear later in the day! We look forward to returning soon!

Room Tip: We chose the Illinois Mountain View Suite for the king bed and ample room. The bath is enormous!

Neil and Jane could not do enough for us during our stay. Breakfast was superb and more than enough for seconds and thirds. The B&B's location was good for the CIA, Vanderbilt Mansion and the Roosevelt's Home and Library. Would stay there again.

Room Tip: The Blue room was where we stayed and very quite.
