Casa Babi will have a special place in our hearts forever! Our first time in Vilanculos, everything was easy and welcoming from the start, from Sabrina's great info and comms on Whatsapp to fetching us at the airport and stopping for groceries, to having lots of adventures right on our doorstep. We chose Babi as it's right next to the wonderful PADI Odyssey Dive Centre. Sadly the weather didn't play along for all the diving we had planned but it didn't bother us much! We did a memorable snorkelling excursion with seahorses right from their beach, did a Discover Scuba course with the kids at their pool, a horse safari and finally explored Bazaruto island and scuba'd on the beautiful reef. We stayed in the self-catering home which suited our family of 4 perfectly, being able to make breakfast and snacks or eat at the restaurant when we wanted to. The food there is wholesome, seasonal, flavourful and highly recommended, with a great wine selection and well-stocked bar (which we enjoyed every night). The breakfast is a showstopper affair and not to be missed! It was easy and safe to walk to the market in town, and there were about 3 other restaurants within walking distance (including the must-try Zita's!). We can't thank all the staff enough for being so helpful and friendly - letting us chill in the lounge, preparing the most delicious samoosas when the kids had a snack attack, and giving great suggestions on local things to do. The house was cleaned spotlessly each day, and we loved the thoughtful gifts left on the last day. This place has everything we wanted in a holiday - a homely feeling complete with cute kittens and delightful dogs, relaxed non-commercialised feeling, intimate and social with other guests if you wanted but also plenty of privacy and peace and quiet. The decor is just stunning - very Euro-Afro chic and finally, the view, with the ever-changing tides and dhow boats drifting past took my breath away.
