My husband and I recently spent a weekend in The Pint at Wm Farmer and Sons. We were greeted warmly from the minute we arrived and met with nothing but kindness during our stay. We loved The Pint - the decor was on point, the ease of getting around fantastic and really loved the B&B vibe the whole Wm Farmer and Sons collective gave. We had dinner one night at the restaurant and had a great meal. It seemed every time we were on the street we ran into one of the GMs or other hosts - always a smile, always an inquiry as to how we were finding everything. Hudson is a charming town and this property an even more charming place to call home for a few nights during your stay. Will come again!

Room Tip: The Pint would be great even for two couples or a family - the full kitchen is a bonus.

This small hotel and bar/restaurant is wonderful! We stayed in the James Louis Suite for the weekend and we absolutely loved it.

Here are some of the great things about Wm. Farmer:

1. Location is terrific - right near the river, less than 2 blocks from the train station, less than 2 blocks from the main street with all the shops and restaurants.

2. The people are so friendly and helpful! Everyone we encountered, from check-in to check-out and in the restaurant, was super nice and helpful.

3. The rooms are beautiful and well-appointed - the room is stocked more like a day spa than a hotel room. They give you things that you wouldn't expect these days from a hotel, like shampoo, shower gel, Qtips, cotton swabs, ear plugs! The bed linens are luxurious and the bed was very comfortable. Check out the website before you book - the photos are very true to real life, in a good way. There was also a bar in our room with mini bar offerings, a coffee machine, and an extra sink - so great!

4. The tech is amazing for an old building. Our room had an awesome TV with Dish Network, excellent free WiFi, and an air conditioning unit that worked well. Plus, there are no keys - you get a code to open the front door and your suite door, which is so much easier and you never have to worry about losing or deactivating your key!

A few things to keep in mind that weren't amazing, but were totally ok:

1. The lighting in the bathrooms is not great for putting on makeup, so consider bringing a makeup light or makeup mirror.

2. It's a really old building, so there is no elevator and the stairways are reallllly narrow, so pack light.

3. Parking is street parking only, and the overnight parking rules are overcomplicated and confusing. We didn't have a problem finding a spot, but it took a lot of thought to figure out which side of the street we could park on at which time.

Overall, we LOVED out stay at Wm. Farmer & Sons and we would definitely stay here again on our next trip to Hudson!

We very much enjoyed this quirky, somewhat retro hotel. Sort of felt like we were in boarding house in a mining town. Very nicely appointed with great snacks & beverages at reasonable prices. It is eccentric, our room with no closet and no pure shower (tub with shower attachment). We adapted and didn't think much of it. All in all good space for 2 people. We stayed in the Abigail which is somewhat above the bar so there were faint sounds of bass from the sound system, but it turned off ~11p so wasn't a big deal. We did take advantage of the bar two nights after dinner elsewhere. Very pleasant with some good drink and nice people. Shout out to Deadhead manager Tony. Lastly, I have a dicey back but enjoyed the soft mattress (which seem good quality and not worn) even though I am accustomed to firm, this all contrary to a recent review I see. Maybe we're all just built differently.

We really wanted to like this place. And it was not bad, but.....we both ended up with sore backs and necks after sleeping on a the bed. The mattress that was like more like a hammock. Zero support whatsoever.

When you got on the bed, you basically sank down several inches, slumping into the middle. Not good. Made for a very poor night's sleep.

Overall, the room was nice and well appointed. Especially the mini bar, which is very well stocked with a wide assortment of beverages, including pints of various top shelf liquors.

But at the end of the day, a good night's sleep is what you really want. And a decent quality mattress and pillows are key to achieving that goal.

I would have mentioned this on the way out, but there was no one around when we "checked out".

This room was on the top floor of the main building. Unfortunately, the a/c units and industrial fan (kitchen range hood fan?) are all outside the back windows. Some may find the noise from these units annoying. When we checked in, the receptionist ( who was very friendly) went up to the room first to ensure it was ready, and turned on the radio before we were taken up. That did seem to mask the noise. After the kitchen closed, the noise seemed to decrease. I think this is unique to this room only.

Small point: No hooks in the bathroom to hang towels. Second small point: Yes, it is an old building, so it is not surprising that the floor is not level. But it would be helpful to level the bed. If you look, the right side slopes down a few inches. The bed frame bar indicates this clearly. But this was hardly noticeable as the sagging mattress kept you on a sinking slope regardless of the level of the bed frame.

I would stay here again, but only if I was reassured they had invested in a new mattress for this room (we stayed in the Lee Wendell).

The bar and restaurant looked great, but we had plans to dine elsewhere, so we did not get to try them out.

A lot of rooms/suites to choose from, and they are all decorated in a unique style.

I would have rated the property very good had the bed and pillows been of a higher quality.

Room Tip: Check the bed for firmness!

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I am sorry to hear that our mattress did not provide you a good night's sleep. I can assure you that our mattresses and pillows are of the highest quality, though, as you mentioned, our mattresses are on the softer side. This information will be very useful to others looking to book with us!
