Owner description: Make the Lake Placid Olympic Museum your first stop on a tour of America's Olympic hometown and be inspired by the stories of the Winter Games. Located in the same building as the 1980 "Miracle on Ice" hockey game, the excitement of the Olympics lives on daily through displays and exhibits that visitors of all ages enjoy.

The only Olympic museum in the USA and in Lake Placid the first host city for the Winter Olympics in 1932.
This little museum is a gem, interesting exhibits, Sonja Henie, Olympic jackets through the years, of course the miracle on ice Hockey team of 1980, an array of medals and you can take pictures inside.
My toddler loved trying out the bobsled and other exhibits you could use. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and will happily answer any questions you have.

To stand in the rink where the USA hockey team won the 1980 golf medal puts shivers down your spine! It is an awesome experience to stand in that space. In addition to the rink there are countless photos of olympic heroes down a hallway to look at and read. There are 3 rinks in the building and a museum with a lot of the history of the 1980 hockey win. If you are a hockey player or a hockey fan - this is an historic place to visit - I enjoy seeing it year after year and it never gets old!

It was pretty cool to be able to go onto the arena, including the playing area...no ice, of course. You can go into the entrance to where the locker rooms are located, although you cannot actually go into the lockers rooms. Overall, a nice experience for those of us old enough to have watched the Miracle on Ice...the greatest moment in American sports.

If you would like to see a video of perhaps the greatest sporting event of all time, it is here. The USA victory over the USSR in 1980 was an unbelievable event and yes perhaps a miracle. There are a lot of other interesting things in this museum. It was very enlightening to see the evolution of equipment over the years. It's no wonder why records keep getting broken. This museum is a good place to spend an hour or two, particularly on a rainy day.

Enjoyed seeing the various equipment, etc. used over the years of the Olympics. Of course especially enjoyed the memory of the 1980 gold, particularly as a huge hockey fan. Well worth seeing for the price.
