This cafe is located in the old school house in Vitrac Bourg – up the hill above better known Vitrac Port on the river Dordogne.
Part of the building has become a gallery for paintings produced by one of the owners, and part has tables for inside eating during inclement weather. In the old school yard, under trees, are several tables set up – a lovely place to enjoy a snack, drink or meal. A French version of hopscotch is painted on the yard and there is a badminton net also. Our grandchildren had fun whilst the adults were relaxing.....
The two ladies gave us a warm welcome and produced drinks and food in good time. We all chose savoury gallettes as the main course and followed with a sweet crepe. The choice of fillings for both was excellent.
This is an unusual and attractive location – on a hot summer day the shaded school yard would be perfect to escape the heat.
It was a neat twist for us to discover that the owner of the campsite where we were staying had actually attended that school and sat at the old fashioned desks on display.
