We had the Red Tail Ridge riesling at the Ports Cafe while there for dinner, and I liked it so much we had to make a special trip here. We had spent the day out and about at the Keuka Wine Trail, and pulled in to this winery about 7 or 8 minutes before closing. A woman came out to meet us in the driveway to let us know they were closing, but we explained we only wanted to buy a bottle quickly and not taste. Luckily, they allowed us to do so and we were in and out. Next time we’ll stay and do a tasting of all their other wines for sure!
Hello,
Thank you for your support of our Riesling and our winery! We hope to see you on your next visit for a full tasting experience!
Cheers,
Danielle
Had the option to try three tastings, the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. the wine were good examples of what the Finger Lakes has to offer. The winery has a place to sit down and relax and enjoy the view.
Beautiful dry fingerlake wines. Small business. Knowledgeable staff. Especially loved the 2012 Pinot Noir. Gerwarztraminer and Reisling above average too.
What can we say! This wine is some of the best ever! We were there for their Red Dinner and they did not disappoint. We stocked up on the wine to bring back to New Jersey. This area of the finger lakes makes an awesome weekend trip from NJ. Only a 5 hour drive and there are some amazing restaurants and winery's to visit . But clearly Red Tail Ridge Winery is our favorite!
Hello Susan,
It was such a joy to have you at our Red Dinner! Thank you so much for your support of RTR with your kind review and your continually support of our wines. We hope to see you again soon.
Cheers,
Danielle
we were here a little before they opened so they came out and told up they were not quite ready yet ( a nice touch) I really wanted to focus on the reds as we already had over a case of whites they had several very good ones and were very informative. they said they had an intern from MN this summer and she had told them quite a bit about the Minnesota grape and wine program. I told them we've been to about 38 of the minnesota wineries and about 3 or 4 could probably make it in NY.
Hello,
Thank you for your nice review of RTR since we are always trying to make the tastings for our customers as best as it can be! Our current interns are actually from Namibia and from Illinois originally. However, one of our owners did grow up in MN so he shares that knowledge with us. Glad to see the wine regions growing in all of the U.S.
Hope to see you on your next visit.
Cheers,
Danielle
While researching our road trip we learnt that the Finger Lakes region was very scenic and known for its viticulture. Then while having dinner at Convivial in Washington I ordered a Riesling called Good Karma and it was quite good so we decided to visit the vineyard. Our tasting was conducted by Sarah who explained the process to us and pointed out wines based on what we told her we liked. We took a sample of 5 whites and 5 reds (a sample of 5 wines is $3). We bought a bottle of Good Karma and a Gewurtztraminer.
