We recently moved after many years from the Hudson valley area but visit several times a year to visit family and friends.
The Hyatt has become our home base as it is convenient, super clean and very accommodating. Christina the general manager and her staff are top notch in hotel hospitality. They go out of their way to make your visit wonderful. From checkin to check out it is a truly enjoyable experience. The rooms are spacious and spotless. The bountiful morning breakfast and the all day coffee are also a great perk.
We will definitely continue to make the Hyatt our home away from home when we are in the Hudson valley!

My family and I stayed at the Hyatt in Poughkeepsie for a wedding. Our experience at the Hyatt was exceptional. The hotel was spotless, our room super comfortable, and the hotel staff was friendly, helpful, and professional. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Poughkeepsie.

We actually stayed here two separate nights, sandwiching a trip to NYC in between. Friday night both couples shared a room (we were using points from our Hyatt account). The hotel generously let us store our suitcases since we were coming back on Sunday. When we returned on Sunday, each couple had their own rooms. The rooms were clean and well-kept. The staff, when we checked in and out, was very friendly and accommodating. A special shout out to Samantha C. and Mahwish K! Great stay!

Stayed for a week on business trip. We choose Hyatt Place products because it has the extra living area so you don't have to sit on the bed all the time. This Hyatt Place is a much newer property and it has all standard Hyatt Place features and configurations.

***Location***
Poughkeepsie is a small place, this hotel is at the south end of the town, which is okay and convenient to go every where in town. There are many restaurants in town, there are Texas Roadhouse, Red Lobster, TGI Fridays, etc. etc. of the chain restaurants. But if you don't want the chains, it is kind hard to find. The Mill House and Cosimo's are two good local restaurants several miles north, but they are not cheap.

***Facility***
The building is very new, probably built within the last 2 or 3 years. Rooms are with typical Hyatt Place configurations, which is bigger than standard hotel rooms with separate living (sofa and desk) and sleeping (bed) areas. The bathroom is rather large comparing with other Hyatt Place locations. The room is clean, the beds are comfortable, and love the pillows. The rooms do have central air conditioning, but it is still very loud when it is on, not sure why. The floor does NOT have carpet, it has the newer vinyl plate "hard wood" looking, so it is hard and can make louder sounds when walking on it. So you should get highest floor if possible so nobody walks above you.

One tricky thing is you must avoid any room with connecting door to the next room. The connecting door does NOT block sound at all with large gap at the bottom. I spent the first night listening to the lady and two teenage kids next room laughing, talking and yelling at each other, and they didn't shut off even after mid night. But I need to go to work early next morning, so the next day I had to get a different room. The front desk gave me another room right away I assume they know the situation and they have received this type of complaints all the time. So if you initially assigned a room with a connecting door, don't waste a single minute, get another room right away, so you will have a good sleep from day one you are there. Also if you can get a room that is not facing the road would be better, the noise from the street can be loud from time to time.

***Free breakfast***
Hot breakfast comes with your stay and if you stayed with Hyatt Place before, this is the same here. It has hot items (bacon, eggs, potato), breads, fruits, juice, coffee, etc., very typical. It is definitely a plus so you don't have to look for breakfast every morning. One thing for Hyatt Place in general, they have very bland/watery coffee, no exception at this location, the coffee is just so bad. Could Hyatt just spend little money to offer a little better coffees?

***Staff***
Half of the front desk staffs are friendly and would greet you when you walk in. The other half of the staffs would tend to look at computer screens or look away instead of greeting you when you walk in. I stayed for a week so I met pretty much every one, it just seemed they didn't get the same training.

***Overall***
This is a newer Hyatt Place with all the standard styles and configurations. With all the available hotels in the area, the rate here is about average. Would stay here again next time in the area.

Room tip: Avoid any room that has a connecting door to the next room
