I've been there a few times for lunch. I like the food, and especially the sweet orange bbq chicken dish. Nice atmosphere too.

It's small, but well decorated and comfortable. They squeezed in a lot of tables for the space, so the wait wasn't too bad. Food is very good, although the menu isn't extensive. A great option for a comfortable dinner

We were there on a Sturday before a concert at Vassar College. Four adults and 2 teenaged grandchildren able to make good choices. It was a small menu but everything sounded tasty. It everything we ordered was tasty, perfectly done.

This has become our "don't feel like cooking, let's treat ourselves" spot over the course of the last two years. It's a cozy spot across the street from Vassar College, with diners sharing space with bar customers. Although sometimes the noise level gets a bit high, there's nothing that can distract from the very good food and service that we always find at Beech Tree. The menu has a number of standards--hanger steak, salmon, a hefty burger, among other entree and sandwich/salad/appetizer selections. There are also daily specials, generally a couple of appetizers, a soup, and one or two entrees. The specials are always well conceived, and I've tended to opt for a selection of them, which allows me to sample more broadly . Beech Tree does fish cakes--I've had salmon and crab--particularly well, and their soups are always hearty and good. The drinks are always well prepared, and there's a good beer selection, including several draft options. If you're looking for a lovely meal in a low-key neighborhood spot this is the place.

Nothing fancy, plenty of Vassar College-ites, really good food at reasonable prices. There's also a bar, an asset.
