Sherwood Forest Motor Inn

This was the second time we went to this place. To be fair, the outside is pretty nice with a pretty view on a small lake. But the cabin itself is just GROSS. We were given the cabin #17. First thing after opening the door : THE SMELL!!. Look like this door was not opened for 2 years!..

Then the bathroom... Same thing. Look like it wasn't clean up for 2 years!! The toilet was disgusting,(full of stains of every color!!!) the shower and the sink was full of rust stains. The shower plumbing was leaking badly (burned myself while trying the close the hot water). Spider net with full of bugs in the shower!

All of this for 150$ / night !!!!

Not all the cabin's look to be the same, our friends cabin's was not as gross as ours!!

Never ever again.

Room Tip: Don't accept the cabin #17

The balcony overlooking the lake was wonderful. It would have been a nice place to stay if only the owners had cleaned the place beforehand. There were dust nests everywhere and the cupboards were not well stocked with dishes. I hadn't had to use plastic plates for a long time and we had to share a mug for coffee. I advised the owner of the dirt I encountered and naturally, she denied this but I have photos.

Room Tip: Accommodation overlooking the lake. Check out cleanliness and supply of dishes and advise the owner...

The owners are very friendly, the cabins are clean and neat, and the view on the deck was great! Beds were pretty comfy too!!! Was just what we needed. Owners were very accommodating, friendly and the price was decent. We would definitely go back. It is definitely Adirondack-like and just what we wanted for our long weekend. We would like to have been able to build a campfire, but that's ok - there was a nice fireplace and an outdoor grill. The little kitchen suited us perfectly and a nice table for playing cards when it got chilly outside.

Room Tip: They seemed all good - would definitely take the studio next time with teh deck right off the bedroo...

I like very much the cabins! They are on a a private lake and you can take a free canoe
We booked the 2 bedrooms cabin and a one bedroom cabin
Pretty clean and you have everything inside: pans, dishes, cups, glasses, kitchen
There is a bbq next to every cabin
There is also a fireplace and wood

Sherwood Forest is perfectly located between Saranac Lake and Lake Placid, NY. The "Motor Inn" encompasses several cabins on a privately owned lake (Wolf Lake). Because the Lake is privately owned, you can fish on it without a license (my brother was out there every morning by 6:00am) and use (for free)one of their many canoes and row boats. We stayed in Cabin4 which was perfect- one very large room plus a bathroom that had a kitchen at the front end of the cabin with a dining table and chairs, then a large couch and a full sized bed. A door opened from the bedroom end onto the deck that overlooked the lake. There is a wood burning fireplace in the cabin. The kitchen was fully stocked with dishes, etc and had a full sized refrigerator and a small 4 burner stove. Our cabin was very clean and the trash and linens were tended to by housekeepers every day. My brother and his family had a 2 bedroom cabin (Cabin 3) That was also well equipped, but the rooms were a little small. It too had a deck that overlooked the lake but you couldn't get to it from inside the cabin. Despite this, I would gladly stay in Cabin 3 if Cabin 4 was not available. The owners are very pleasant and accommodating. My husband and I look forward to going back - maybe in the winter so we can take advantage of the fire place!
