There was only 1 waitress in the whole entire place and most of the tables were full. It seemed like we waited 30 minutes for our food. I had the gyro with a side of French fries.
It was delicious and the portions are huge. Someone else had some kind of salad and it was big and looked good. The tables are close together but I was not noisy at all. It looked like there could be tables outside in the summer. I would go back again.

If you like Mediterranean food, this is THE place to go.
The atmosphere is simple and charming. The service is friendly and efficient, the food prices are competitive.
All that said...AND the Mediterranean style diet is supposedly the healthiest on the planet....and you have a winning combination.
On our visit we had 3 platters of generously proportioned food with very flavorful seasonings. The chicken gyro was large and tasty. The chicken salad platter was overflowing and had fresh cheese, greens, ham and chicken with seasonings. My own Mazi chicken was a flat bread with chicken, bacon and avocado divided on either side by a generous salad.
The lemonade flavored with honey is unique and delicious. No wonder locals LOVE this place!

We've been to Mazi over a dozen times, it was great when it opened, , it's been slowly declining but this meal was really awful.
4 of us, one waited over 45 minutes for what turned out to be an overlooked, dry, burnt spinach pie. ( we were not charged for it) Soup was watery and bland. Hummus has disappeared from the dip sampler. Service was grim. Horrible loud music. A shame, because this used to be a reliable place for authentic Greek food in Riverhead.

John and his crew serve up amazing, out of the ordinary, delicious meals. I could eat at Mazi every day of the week. Each entrée is a work of art in it's culinary creativity. They don't just pump out cookie cutter meals like so many other restaurants. Every dish on the menu has been thoughtfully created to wow your taste buds. Servings are abundant and each one is better than the last. The fun bar specialties never disappoint. There is nothing boring or average about the food. It is all reasonably priced. Great atmosphere with a chic but inviting "Chelsea-ish" décor. Just love the place!!!!

We had been there once before and remembered the fabulous food and attentive service. This time the food was okay, but the menu was different and the wait service left a lot to be desired. I hate feeling like I have to tip someone when they haven't earned it.
