A group of three business professionals stopped at the former Hogans Hideaway, now The Hideaway, for dinner and drinks. The newly remodeled restaurant was comfortable and welcoming (much brighter and open feel than it used to have). Our waiter, Brendan, was helpful, explaining that the food is Farm-to-Table. We sampled many of the appetizers and a couple salads. Fried rice balls were savory, the caprese salad was great (confirmed that the cheese was, indeed, local), mac-n-cheese was good, Buffalo poutine was heavy (what do you expect from fries and cheese), but so good. Drinks were well balanced, if not a little on the strong side. Nice selection of beers on tap. Priced reasonably (mid-range for Rochester). I would go again and bring friends.

I wish I could give no stars here. We made reservations to have Mother's Day Brunch and it was a disaster from start to finish. Reservations were for !0:15am. We were seated promptly, but the waitress was so overrun that she didn't take our order for more than half an hour. It took forever to just get drinks. It was an hour and twenty minutes for our food to arrive, and this was after asking the waitress how much longer it would be. When the food came, it was wrong. Scrambled eggs were fried. Over easy eggs were hard and overcooked. Ham and cheese omelet was so loaded with onions and peppers (that were not mentioned on the menu) that it was hard to find the ham and cheese. And my daughter's meal never arrived. When we finally got the waitress' attention, and the food came for her, it was cold. The same thing happened to the table next to us. The grandmother never got her food. The whole table had finished and she still didn't have her food. She left without eating. It is obvious that management is non-existent and we will never return to this restaurant.

This restaurant has been newly redone. The dinner menu is very, very limited. My dinner was the special of shaved prime rib with mashed potatoes, gravy and vegetables. I had the gravy on the side and was so glad...it was barely warm, thick with little flavor. The potatoes....how can a "chef" ruin mashed potatoes? The vegetables were turnips and small amount of another vegetable. My friend had the eggplant parm and said the flavor was different from any other eggplant parm she has previously had. The wine was good. The servce not so good.

Now called the Hideaway. The Resturant has been remodeled with a real touch of ROCHESTER. A lot of cool ROCHESTER artwork. The menu has several unique items on it. Pleasantly surprised. They claim to be farm to table. The food was fantastic the service was 5 star!! Great menu, good wine love st and drink specials. These folks did a real nice job with Hogan’s!!

The Hideaway is more open and bright compared to Hogan's. The Butternut Squash soup was surprisingly tart and the Onion Soup hearty. Tuna appetizer very tasty and properly done. Beet salad large and flavorful.
