Great value and very pleasant stay

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 26 Oct 2024
Booked an overnight here with my travel partner. Both desk clerks were very friendly, helpful and accommodating. The pool was closed for repairs (we were told this during booking, so not a surprise). The room was very clean and adequate for an overnight (not huge, but ok). Shower was excellent. Breakfast (chosen the night before) came frozen and didn't look like much, but it was actually quite good. When we over cooked one item, the desk clerk happily supplied us two replacements! Location is central to lots of Salamanca tourist sights, esp. the Seneca-Iroquois Cultural Center. Loads of free parking right in front. If we need a place to stay in this area again, we will definitely stay here. Great value, too.

Room Tip: Pool was out of order due to mechanical issues. Check first if that's important to you.

The staff was super friendly and helpful. The hotel and the rooms were very clean and the pillows were fluffy and very comfortable. I wish I had those pillows at home. The free shuttle to the casino runs 24/7 was a major plus and the driver was wonderful. The whole town friendly and quaint. I highly recommend this place and will return next year.

We were in town for a family reunion about 30 minutes away. The staff was very friendly. We checked in and they gave us a slip to fill out for breakfast the next day. The room was “meh”. The carpet was damp near the refrigerator, the room smelled musty. The bed was clean (no bedbugs, clean sheets) and comfortable enough. The breakfast consisted of a beverage, yogurt or muffin, and a frozen entree (egg bites or an omelet) that came with instructions on how to heat in microwave. They should just not offer breakfast. The yogurt was fine, everything else was “school food service” quality. Skip it. They also put a charge in my card for an extra $100 that was supposed to drop off and didn’t. I had to call them and only then was it credited back. I wonder how many people don’t check their credit card after they check out because it’s not a for incidentals charge - it’s a real charge! BTW the Fireside Lounge they have is not open so I don’t know how there was even an opportunity for an incidental charge to occur. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Room tip: Plenty of parking but no restaurants open other than fast food joints. Skip it.

We have stayed here before and the staff is so helpful and friendly. The rooms are very clean, beds are comfortable, bathrooms clean and most of all it is so quiet. We stayed here for the Powwow (July 2024), and we could walk to the casino. I would recommend to anyone to stay here the price is good and you get a free breakfast plus $15.00 to play at the casino it's a win-win all the way around. Thanks, Damian for your friendly customer service as well as the other desk help.... love you all

Room tip: They have a small clean work out room, you can walk to the casino and other places. There is an antique mall in town (5 min)

I always try to make my reviews fair and honest and "call it like I see it" . Stayed here on business so I did not pay for the room myself. It is a former Holiday Inn Express so if you are familiar with those you know what to expect as far as rooms and hotel layout. It is starting to show its age a bit in a few ways but by no means shabby. The hotel was VERY clean everywhere. Front desk people were friendly and helpful. Rooms are big and well lit. The bed was nice and there is even a choice of pillow firmness. TV is a bit smaller than the newer hotels but worked well and had a decent number of channels but no Netflix or Hulu options. Not a USB port in the room but plenty of outlets. There is a small refrigerator and microwave and a Keurig. Towels in the bathroom are decent and lots of toiletries. The only downsides were that the pool and hot tub were closed for renovations, and breakfast was less than Motel 6 quality. But-what was their breakfast/lounge area that had been turned in a pot dispensary was gone and I was told they would reopen it for eating and have more food choices. I hope that happens and soon. Time will tell.

Room tip: Very quiet on the 2nd floor!

We visited this lodge during the Total Solar Eclipse - as an after event stay over. We found it to be clean - even to our fussy standards. The bed was comfortable enough and the climate control was very nice (has a fan only setting - yay). The bath was well stocked and linens were in great shape.

Their location extremely convenient for our purpose - yet not all fired noisy despite being nearly adjacent to the 86 and the main thoroughfare. The grounds were well kept and the lighting in the lot provided additional assurance as to the safety of our vehicle and belongings.

Check in and out was a breeze - we did not opt to do their breakfast though the selection seemed adequate enough. The former lounge/ smoke shop is now nothing at all - and we did not experience any of the "odor" issues mentioned in other reviews. The outdoor area has a closed off gazebo - a bit of an eyesore.

Staff - very pleasant and, in one particular situation over and beyond helpful. We had taken our own (expensive) pillows, as is our wont when traveling domestically. For the first time, we managed to forget them on the load out. We called the next day after returning home and were happy to speak with Amber (GM?) who assured us that they not only had our items set aside - she would, personally, see to it that they were shipped to us! (mind you, we agreed to send shipping label and pre-pay). Still in all, she had to drop them off at a shipping center and, to us, that is going over and above. (not to mention how many places flat out deny we had left an item when we have done so in the past).

So, well done Whitetail Lodge. WE don't ask for much when traveling, but we are very picky. We will stay here again - no doubt about it.

Room tip: Pool facilities were still closed.
