We have been getting their to-go food only here for almost 20 years, and are very surpassed that anyone would hate it! It is true that I mainly have the same dishes over and over again, but still….. Tonight we both had the lo mein with shrimp It was NOT greasy. It was dry-ish and delicious. Those noodles were fresh, as were the shrimp. I will admit that there is better Chinese food, at more expensive prices, at a sit-down, traditional Chinese restaurant, such as this one particular one in Huntington, but certainly not around the Southampton area. The service is fast, friendly, and polite, and there is plenty of free parking all around the place. The prices are very fair, especially for this neighborhood of tony Southampton Village. I have had tofu dishes in the past that were great, too. My companion also loves the food here. Cash only, no alcohol.

This place shouldn't even be in business. They say they prepare Chinese food but don't us traditional Chinese recopies or vegetables. There sauces are thick and gooey, full of corn starch and MSG.

If this wee to be my last meal on earth, I'd go to see my maker hungry.

- In general, the food here is LOUSY -
It was late in the evening of Labor Day Weekend when we went to town for take out. Our hopes were with another restaurant, a favorite, but it was so busy that we walked down the block and found a place that calls it's self China Garden. Garden Nothing and only the names of the dishes resembled Chinese food.

We ordered the sliced roast pork which was over cooked, full of fat and sliced way to thick for any of the gooey, lack luster sauce to penetrate.

The hot and sour soup, which has been a long time favorite dish of mine was a disaster as well. It contained mostly "American" vegetables and not the tradition Chinese selection. The recipe is simple enough and the ingredients are even posted on line :
The Chinese hot and sour soup is usually meat-based, and often contains ingredients such as day lily buds, wood ear fungus, bamboo shoots, and tofu, in a broth that is sometimes flavored with pork blood. It is typically made hot (spicy) by red peppers or white pepper, and sour by vinegar
There were no red peppers, no vinegar, no day lily buds, not one bamboo shoot, No wood ear fungus mushrooms and one lowly piece of tofu.
Not only did they forget to use the traditional recipe, but they added some sort of sickening sweetener.
Surely they can read and copy an on line recipe ... well, I guess not.

The wanton / egg drop soup wasn't much better. There was way too much corn starch which made it seem more like a gelatinous mess of snot. No shreds of chicken, as is normal. The things they called wanton were made with dough so thick that you almost needed a knife to cut them. When you finally got to the inside of one, it was empty.

The General Tso's Chicken wasn't much better. Gone were the hot red peppers and tasty sauce. Replaced again with a sweet goo. The fried rice which accompanied this was devoid of any vegetables or pork bits. The only really edible part of this dish were the three tiny pieces of broccoli planted in the center.

In my mind, if you have money to waste and a trash pail to fill, China Garden may be your cup of tea. Oh yeah, they didn't even include the traditional tea bags with the take out food.

NEVER AGAIN

This is a very low end Chinese restaurant. The quality of the ingredients is poor. The preparation is likewise marginal. We had pan fried dumplings which were greasy, chicken fried rice with some ingredient resembling but not tasting like chicken, sesame checken which consisted of about 80 percent batter with a tiny piece of "chicken" in the center. We had several other dishes and not one was acceptable.

There is really only 1 other Chinese food place to go in Southampton. I would recommend this one. The food is just the usual Chinese food nothing really special but it tastes really good! I like that its in the village. The owners seem to be friendly.
