We had dinner here the day after Christmas. We initially were going to eat in Schenectady but figured we'd spend $ in our own county/our side of the river, and very glad we did. Terrific neighborhood restaurant. No ambience to speak of - you feel like you're eating in the family's kitchen circa 1960s - but if you're hungry for fantastic Italian you've come to the right place! We had the Artichoke Chicken Neapolitan and the Penne Rigate Broccoli and Chicken, both excellent. Loved the sauce bec you know it's all about the sauce! All ingredients were tender and cooked perfectly! Had enough leftovers for a second meal. Will definitely return. Nice to see they are still hanging on in Troy's Little Italy where most of the Italians are sadly gone like all other cities, Utica, etc. It was very nice to see some college grads returning there for dinner the same nite we dined who knew the owners and college age kids still working there.

We were coming through Troy on our way home, looking for a spot to eat (no chain restaurants). We came across this spot and we lucked up. The employees were Super friendly and helpful. They had no tables but said we could order to go and see if something opened up while waiting. A table did. We ordered a cheese pizza and linguini with sausage. They make the sausage next door (AMAZING). The food was simple but with so much flavor. Had great conversation about local High school basketball with workers. We will be back. Oh didn’t mention the ice tea with mint. Mauh. The wife loved it.

Great pizza. Unusual offerings. Service is inconsistent at best. To be total fair, we could not tell if the employees were "green" or just plain inattentive. Either way, training is in order. Much better to call ahead orders for take out. Still worth a visit as the "scene" in Troy is reconnecting to this neighborhood. Also check out their original grocery & deli right next door. NOTE: BYOB.

We've always heard about DeFazio's and decided to finally check it out.

South Troy, small store front, w small Italian style grocery store next to it.

Only full pies, made to order, nice crispy crust. Nice product. A bit pricey, but then I'm use to going to I Love Pizza in downtown Troy.

They also have salads and pasta dishes.

We had the pizza with capers, artichokes, olives, sauce and cheese. Came out hot hot and fresh. We were hungry so we at the whole pie. It was 4 smaller pieces that probably equaled 2 regular pieces.

Guy behind the counter was very nice.
Bring cash, don't think they take credit cards. After you order, they bring pizza out to you.

It's small inside, maybe 5-6 tables.

As we drive away it looks like they MIGHT be opening a new place down the street.

There is no better pizza in the Albany - Schenectady - Troy - Saratoga area! More expensive than the Pizza Huts, Domino's, Papa Johns and other mass-produced imitation pizzas, but worth every penny. You can try DeFazio's at the outstanding Troy Farmers' Market, but a visit to their Little Italy location is worth the trip. I am a vegan and find their cheeseless Puttanesca is exceptional.Almost everyone else I eat there with is an omnivore and they love the place.
