It was worth visiting the old slave market and the Anglican cathedral got a lot of information how the business of slaves was conducted until abolished, it's a bad history to hear. Put in a bucket list when you visit Zanzibar.

To see where people was kept and the oxygen was so low to see where al lot of people died in one little space is mind blowing. The church is beautiful inside and also have great history. We will also recommend Juma as tour guide he told us what we Needed to know otherwise you will not know where to see everything his number is +255 777 219 121 . He made the tour interesting and did give us the highlights. Wow it scary to know what happened back then.
Historically an interesting visit. However, they give you a guide and they 'explain' everything. Ours was not very friendly, and worse, not very knowledgable. He made a lot of mistakes in his explanation, and was clearly not very happy with his 10.000 tzs tip. he suggested 50.000 tzs would be more his thing. Since 20.000 tzs is a normal day wages here, we thought that a bit much. Still worth a visit though, just don't believe everything the guide tells you. For example: the underground slave chambers are NOT the original ones and they did NOT contain 75 people.
It's a very humbling experience to learn about slave trade in a place where it was happening - quite literally. Your visit to Zanzibar will not be complete without visiting Old Salve Market. I'd also encourage everyone to take their time and dedicate more time in museum, and read thoroughly about the history of Zanzibar and slave trade.
