I spent 3 nights here in mid Jan before heading to the northeast side of Unguja. Breakfast on the rooftop terrace was one of the highlights, especially the staff: Ramona, Leah & Mary. They always greeted me with a smile & were encouraging as I tried my best to communicate in Kiswahili. The fresh fruit, coffee options (yes, you can order a caffe latte ) and the no-smoking environment were all just perfect.
The front desk manager, Noreen was helpful with arranging my Jozani Park tour as well as a private guide for Zanzibar City. She even offered an upgrade which was a pleasant surprise.
There’s free water from a dispenser for hotel guests. Rooms are air conditioned but still have the bed netting (good idea).
What I especially liked was the complimentary bag of ground coffee and the bar of soap (it smells of clove & other spices - I even brought it home with me though wish I’d have purchased more at the spice market).
Thoroughly enjoyed my stay (even though I got lost several times), tho isn’t that all part of the adventure?
Note: plenty of stairs here (so if that’s an issue it’s something to consider).
Ahsante for everything.
