It's hard to meet the travel requirements for a great group trip when you have a mix of seasoned travelers along with the" first timers", but Azzura and Christian do a phenomenal job of creating a programmed trip that meets all those needs. They really know their history, and can engage in conversation over everything from what kind of soil grows the best grapes, to art and anything else you may wish to ask them about. Comfortable vans took us from place to place, and the hotels they chose in Rome, Siena, Florence, and Venice were clean, comfortable and in safe areas near shopping venues and great restaurants! This 12 day adventure took us to small medieval towns where we wandered for 2 or 3 hours, possibly having lunch or a snack, and then onto the next lovely Tuscan town or city. The highlight of the trip was the day long visit to the "Altiera Winery" (near Greve) where Samuella and Paulo Serra hosted a cooking experience where we learned how to make pasta, pizza, and ravioli....all while enjoying Altiero's wine, olive oil, and cheese offerings!

As travelers, we were expected to pay for our own meals and room taxes, but each hotel we stayed in served a huge choice of breakfast foods, so some days we simply stopped for a cappacino or a thick hot chocolate, and skipped lunch all together!

If you ever find yourself in Tuscany, especially with limited time to explore the area, we highly recommend Azzurra at Viaggi D’Ambra tours. We spent over a month in Europe and went on several tours, but none of them came close to the personal and friendly service, passion, personal knowledge, affection for the region, and accommodating style of this tour company, and our guide Azzurra.
We were staying at an out of the way villa, yet she found us using GPS coordinates, picked us up on time in her spacious van and we were off on local side roads to see and experience the heart of Tuscany. We booked the full day tour of the Chianti region and are so glad we did. She found amazing vistas and introduced us to local villages, farms and wineries. She thoroughly understands and personally loves the history and culture of the region because she grew up here. She tailored our day and the places we visited according to what was happening in that season. This was no cookie cutter tour.
From the beginning, she asked what we wanted to see and experience, and tailored the trip to our interests. Her pricing was straightforward and there were no surprises. Her English was flawless. The van was spacious, clean and comfortable. The wine tasting, several course lunch, with home made jams and locally produced olive oil at the winery surpassed every expectation. Even the view was stunning.
Whenever we wanted to pause for a photo or get out to see something up close, no problem. On a couple occasions, she dropped us at one end of a village, and picked us up 30-45 minutes later at the other end so we had time to browse at our leisure. We began the day with a tour guide and ended it with a friend.
We would not hesitate to recommend Azzurra and Viaggi D’Ambra. The full day tour we took was perfect and far exceeded every expectation.

We had an amazing experience working with both Christian and Azzura! Azzura handled all the initial communications, questions and confirmation leading up to our trip. She was super responsive, enthusiastic, and accommodating with our requests and inquiries. On the day of our tour, Christian was prompt and ready. he was very friendly and informative about Tuscany overall and of course the area of Montalcino where we visited. We visited two boutique wineries where we had the undivided attention of the winemaker, tasting delicious Brunello wines. Christian, also, took us to a lovely lunch in town, handled the ordering for us, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Our last stop was a wine shop where Christian paired us with an Italian wine pro allowing us to taste other wines from Italy and pairing our tastes accordingly. It was a wonderful day in Tuscany and one which we surely will not forget. We recommend Azzura and Christian highly!

My first trip to Italy was definitely a memorable one! Viaggi took the time to get to know us and tailored a trip based off our interests. It was such an amazing experience to have Christian (who is one of the nicest guys you'll ever have the pleasure of doing business with) and his dedicated team take care of us for 10 days! I think the best part was feeling like you were experiencing Italy like a local and learning so much about the region that you would have missed without a knowledgeable guide like Azzurra/Christian. We were there during olive oil harvest time and we were lucky enough to experience first-hand what goes into the harvest and how it is manufactured. Also were treated to a private winery tour/lunch that was absolutely breathtaking and the cheese/meat/homemade jams at the end, was a culinary experience I will never forget. It was easy to fall in love with Italy, especially after touring the small, medieval towns that make up so much of the region. Each one now holds a special place in my heart, as does Viaggi d'Ambra! Do yourself a favor and take the stress out of international travel and let the experts show you Toscana from the eyes of a local!

We have the great pleasure to work with Christian and Azzurra twice now on different trips to Italy over the past three years. I can highly recommend them if what you are looking for is a personalized, intimate, and stress-free experience where you can explore Florence and some of Tuscany's smaller, more authentic towns. Christian and Azzurra both took the time to learn about us as individuals and then crafted a private tour that perfectly reflects our interests, priorities and pace. For my family this meant sampling incredible Tuscan cuisine in a places that only the locals know about and visiting family-owned wineries for tastings. More than just the usual tasting experience, they introduced to the people who owned the land, and who proudly shared what it took to produce the wine or olive oil and what it meant to them. We felt like we were traveling with long-time friends or family members when they introduced us to some of the most beautiful medieval towns in Tuscany like Florence, Siena, or the "city of beautiful towers", San Gimignano." Along the way they open your eyes to the heart and soul of the people in this region, the features of the countryside, the history and traditions, and regional specialties. The hotels they recommended were all first-class and comfortable and were perfectly located so that we were close to the must-see sights and yet away from the street noise and bustle.
