Heather was extremely helpful before and during our stay. She has a prepared WELCOME book which tells you everything you need to know. We ate breakfast and supper in the home every night, and the well equipped kitchen made the preparations easy. There were condiments in the refrigerator and spices in the cabinet. We usually ate the evening meal on the picnic table in the back yard and followed up with s'mores around the fire pit. We bought apples, peaches, tomatoes, blueberries, and Italian bread at the Farmers Market within walking distance on Sunday.
Her recommendations for things to do added to the enjoyment of our stay. We enjoyed the two-hour tour of West Point; the trip to Newburgh to visit George Washington's headquarters, which he occupied for 16 months at the end of the Revolutionary War; a trip to Garrison to see Russel Wright's home Manitoga; a day to review the contributions of Franklin Delano Roosevelt and his wife Eleanor at Hyde Park and Val-Kill; and on our departure to visit Thomas Cole's home in Catskill. There were eight in our party, and the three upstairs bedrooms comfortably served seven. Grandma chose to bring the ottoman which unfolded into a bed into the living room and said it was a wise choice. We heartily recommend the Rockbound Highland Home. You will enjoy staying there.
Great house with way more than we needed including luxury bedding far more comfortable than most hotels. Wonderful and cooperative hosts along with great communication throughout our stay. My daughter was getting married at West Point and the convenience of location in close proximity to Thayer gate was a life saver for back and forth with bridal party, guests, props, etc...
We loved everything about our stay and when we return, we will surely stay at Heathers Rockbound Highland Home!
Anytime we can stay here while visiting USMA we most certainly will do so. The accommodations were fantastic as well as the location. Heather and Dan are wonderful hosts and our entire family felt like we were at home as we relaxed before dropping our son off for R-Day. We've already reserved again for several upcoming USMA events. Dealing with a fellow grad is a huge plus! God bless you both, Heather & Dan! Brett Smith, USMA '94
We were lucky enough to get this place as a short term rental. The owners are amazing! The place can’t be beat! Beds are comfy with high end linens and pillows. Spacious with 3 bedrooms, 2 full bath, full kitchen (seriously has more stuff than I do!), dinning room, living room and an amazing fenced in back yard! Full sized gas grill, deck, numerous outdoor seating areas and a fire pit! Close enough to walk to West Point and enjoy the quaintness of Higland Falls.
Our family stayed at the house for the USMA Class of 2018 Graduation festivities. It was the first time we had not stayed at the Thayer Hotel for a graduation. If we were able to turn back the hands of time, and this house was available, we would have stayed at the house in a heartbeat!. The location, the comfort level, and the owner/booking process can't be beat.
The house is situated on a side street just outside of the Thayer Gate (The main entrance to West Point) and a very short walk to the West Point Visitors Center and the shops/restaurants in Highland Falls. From the house, some of us walked and some drove to graduation activities. The location is perfect.
Grad Week was hot with high humidity, whenever outside you sweat. The house was an oasis, cool and comfortable with the AC working flawlessly. We numbered 7 adults and one toddler for our stay. The three bedrooms and two full baths gave us plenty of room and plenty of hot water! The living room is super comfortable and the dining room was furnished with a large table and plenty of seating. We had everything we need in the kitchen for our stay. The house is very nicely decorated in a West Point motif. The back deck has a sofa and table along with a beautiful gas grill. The back yard is gated with an outdoor table/umbrella and chairs along with a fire pit. We had a gathering of about 35 people one night, catered by Barn Stormers BBQ (Geoff does an awesome job), and the backyard handled it easily. Most stayed outside with a handful hanging out in the kitchen.
Heather could not have been nicer to work with. They were in the process of renovating the property when I first saw it. She told me what it was going to look like when it was finished and sent me pics as it progressed to completion. Every thing not only met our expectations but exceeded them! Any question I had leading up to our stay was always answered in a timely, friendly manner.
In closing, our experience renting the property could not have been better. Outstanding location, outstanding comfort and decor, and an outstanding owner who was a joy to communicate with and delivered exactly as promised. When we travel to West Point as a family or with friends in the future, if in need of a house, this one will be our go to.
Thank you Heather for making your awesome property available to our family for the 2018 Grad Week, it made our trip that much more special!
