Ever wish that the outdoor dining experience was better conceived that just a strip of sidewalk next to moving cars? What if it was in a garden, under tall trees with the sound and sights of a babbling water feature? Full of color and butterflies? Then head over to Mellie Mac’s Garden Center on West State Street where the property is shared with a wonderful home cooking cafe. This is traditional messy and sides but lunch size portions that fuel you but not slow you down. Fried chicken is excellent. Some of the best Lima beans I have had since my grandma’s table. The owner is a former catering chef and takes great pride in her preparations. You will linger at your table in this delightful setting. You may even order dessert. Perhaps buttermilk pie or a fresh berry cobbler.
