We stayed in a log cabin for two nights. The first night it had been snowing during the day and we had the heating up high and a real log fire because we thought that we might be cold. That night we were so hot as these cabins are designed for really cold weather. The next night we were more sensible with the heating and we were fine. These cabins are well equipped and we were able to have some home cookiing one evening. Debbie the owner is very friendly and helpful.

We were traveling from Bristol back to Wilmington NC (obviously taking the scenic route) visiting family for the holidays, when we decided to stop in Blowing Rock. We pasted the Mountainaire on our way into town commenting to one another on how romantic the cabins appeared. After getting a bite to eat at a Pub down the street we stopped in to check their rates for the 'next' time we were in the area. Deb greeted me with a big smile and a delightful personality. Very genuine and kind lady!! After speaking with her for a few minutes I could not pass up the opportunity to stay in one of the cabins. We stayed in the Signature Romance Cabin and it was Incredible. Absolutely Beautiful. The cabin was stocked with firewood, wine glasses and everything we could need. We ran out to the grocery store and got a bottle of wine and breakfast items for the next morning. When we returned we started a fire in the fire place, poured a couple of glasses of wine and put a CD in the cd player. It was the most memorable and romantic place we have stayed. We typically opt for a Bed and Breakfast but we will always stay at the Mountainaire anytime we are in the area. We travel alot and I can't say there are too many places I would absolutely recommend... Mountainaire however IS a place I would! We didn't meet Jim this trip but look forward to seeing Deb and meeting Jim soon. They have an outstanding Inn and the Cabins are second to none. Thanks Deb for a wonderful and romantic stay!!! Mark & Debbie, Wilmington, NC

Room Tip: Stay at Mountainaire!!!!

We were traveling the Blue Ridge Parkway and stopped for the night in Blowing Rock. We checked a few places and decided on this Inn. We were so glad we picked this place!! The owner was absolutely amazing and fun to talk with. The rooms were clean and cute! The bathroom was small but clean and worked for us. The Inn is a quick walk from the downtown shops. There is a fire pit for fires at night which allowed us to meet/talk with other guests...but we could have used more wood. This Inn is very motorcycle friendly!!

Mountainaire is a charming motor court. They are located in a terrific spot if you enjoy strolling around the town of Blowing Rock. Knights on Main is conveniently across the street also. The parking lot is rather tight so we parked once and didn't move until departure. Everything was very clean. The beds had extra pillows to make sitting up comfortable. The bathroom vanity was tiny. You have the option of opening the windows in nice weather. We had the window a/c running the whole time and didn't hear the traffic or our neighbors. We enjoyed the lovely garden areas especially. The firepit was nice however I'm not partial to there being music played. There is a small refrigerator and microwave beside the front office. The ice and drink machine is located there. We stored some leftover picnic items in the guest fridge and no one bothered them. We definitely would like to stay here again.

We stayed in the Fishing Family Cabin for the night. The cabin was adoreable. It also included a small kitchen if you wanted to cooked. We wish we could have stayed longer. The owners made us feel like we were part of the family. All restaurants and stores were in walking distance. After a great meal, we spent the evening on the front porch with a bottle of wine totally relaxed. The weather was in the mid 60s after the sun went down. (Being from Florida, mid 60s in August is special) We slept with the windows open. My family will be returning for another visit soon. But this time we will be staying for at least a week.

Room Tip: Log Cabins all the way. Worth the extra expense.
