This was our third stay in cabin 3. What we love about this cabin is that it has a quaint rustic cabin feel, but it is just steps away from the restaurants and shops on Main Street in Blowing Rock. We like being able to walk to dinner and then come back to our cabin to light a fire and watch a movie. (Cabin fireplaces have been converted from wood burning to gas. The only negative but we understand why!). The cabin was clean and the staff was friendly and accommodating.

We rented a single room. The room was clean and had necessary amenities, but it was pretty outdated. It leaned from the back of the room to the front, but the bed had been leveled (thank goodness). TV worked, shower and toilet worked. Don't think we'll stay here again, though.

Room tip: The cabins may be nicer than the single rooms.

Booked a lodge room for several days, but we almost left after one night. The room has a musty smell, dust in the corners, cobweb hanging from the ceiling in one corner. Tiny bathroom, so small I had to open the medicine cabinet to have enough room to style my hair while looking in the mirror. Light at night is too much, and we went out to turn off several of the the very bright lights at at our door and the empty room beside ours at midnight to get some sleep. The parking lot is so small, it is difficult to get a car in and out, especially when a big pickup truck is hogging the lines. The place is old, and not in a charming way. No coffee maker or refrigerator in the room. Closet is extremely small, but deep, and difficult to manage. Not a place for mobility challenged!! We would have left and gone to the Holiday Inn Express, but they were booked, so we were stuck. Next time, better planning and will stay elsewhere.

Room tip: Stay somewhere else.

We rented the Azalea Cabin for one of our stops along the BRP trip. One of the first things my husband noticed was the moss-filled gutters with plants growing out of it when we pulled up. Other cabins had the same situation.

The cottage was cute and definitely clean in appearance. We really appreciated the a/c being on to cool the place down and having all the lights on to welcome us in. The kitchen was ok, but when we got take-out and went to use the dishes, they were sticky as was some of the silverware. We did mention this when we checked out.

The bathroom was fine, but we were not fans of the HGTV-like sink bowl. Just no room to put stuff on the counter and the sink seemed to drain really slow.

The lights and fire-pit areas were definitely a nice touch and I could see the areas being a great place to meet other renters there. Unfortunately, we seemed to be the only guests during that timeframe. The drive to the cabin area was easy and the little bridge and river by the cabins was nice. Just wish the highway was not so close with the car noise in the morning.

Since the cottages are in the woods, bugs are to be expected. We did find an ant in the bathroom, but more unsettling was the ant on the ceiling above the bed. Again, this is the woods so not out of the ordinary...

Overall, the stay was just ok.

The room was very standard - old time. Clean, good bed, good A/C. A super staff : friendly, courteous, and often, talkative. Which is great. Formerly a family-run motel, it was recently purchased by a larger firm. Nothing has changed so far. Great Coffee !!!! And a nice outdoor patio. The best location.
