We stayed at one of the Mountainaire River cabins about 2 miles from downtown Blowing Rock. We had the last cabin at the top. The drive at night was a little tricky but not too bad. The creek at the bottom of the mountain was absolutely beautiful, picturesque.
The cabin was clean and comfortable but in need of some updating. Nice gas fireplace, fully equipped kitchen, big front porch. The bathroom had a nice heater which helped on those cold fall nights. The location was great but a little dark at night. We had to leave our headlights on to see the steps and front door if we came back after dark. Great for stargazing but a little too dark maybe. The outside string lights didn’t work. I asked for extra sheets for the living room couch and bug spray since I finished showering one night with a huge spider. Never got the sheets or bug spray and the lights weren’t checked. Overall a good stay but probably wouldn’t stay there again. At least not the cabin at the very top. Just felt a little too dark and alone for us.More
