My wife and I went here to celebrate her birthday and did not know what to expect. We were very impressed!
Wonderful resort. The spa is top notch. The restaurant is wonderful. The staff is extremely nice and accommodating.
We will be returning.

Room tip: You have to try the spa services.

We planned a family stay for Christmas 2022 arriving Friday, departing Christmas day. When we arrived at 4:45pm it was -2%F and -25% degrees wind chill. We drove to the back of the Lodge to unpack the cars. There was no one to assist us so we had to move all the luggage ourselves. The floors were wet and slippery and dangerous, no rubber mats to make the floors safe.
We had two rooms in the Lodge, they were at best a one-star hotel rooms. Checked in at the desk downstairs and notice the hotel was not kept up and was tired. They are not investing in their property. The elevators and hallways were cold and in general understaffed. Since this night was a major weather event their equipment could not keep up, they had to close the kitchen the next day, so no place to eat. We thought we could sit by a fireplace during our stay, again they are old gas fireplaces that need to be upgraded to provide some warmth and comfort. Since they close the kitchen and would not open again for several days, we had to cut our stay short and leave after on night. Very disappointing. I would never recommend staying in the Lodge or Inn. The $405 per night turn into $485 per night when they added all their up charges. I stay in many high-end resorts all over the world, this is not one of them. Maybe some of the owner condos would be a better choice but since we are older wanted the convenience of the main lodge.

Hello Ronald V,

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts from your recent stay in Blowing Rock. We experienced one of the coldest Christmas weekends in over 40 years with temperatures that caused the local power company to schedule "planned blackouts" which prevented us from being able to adequately heat many areas of the resort. It also wiped out critical equipment which caused us to have to shut down the restaurant during your stay. While this was not an ideal situation, we have learned over the past two years to be responsive and stay positive, so we offered all of our guests the opportunity to check out early without penalty, we provided complimentary breakfast each morning in the lobby and checked on our guests throughout the day despite our short staffing. We have invested $1.7 million in room upgrades over the past 3 years, including all three floors in the Lodge, the main lobby, our new fly shop, and we are currently working on the Bob Timberlake Inn. We are sorry to hear that these renovations and upgrades did not meet your expectations, however, we are, in fact, investing in our property. We do wish you all the best in finding the right hotel for your next adventure.

Kind regards,
Chetola Management

This resort came highly recommended to me on TA (thank you so much, once again TA peeps) and after doing some research (perusing photos and reviews) I found the one! We stayed in the magnificent private condo...Juniper 10. This condo, I'm almost afraid to write this and expose this absolutely gorgeous condo for the fear of it being booked on my next stay here, but this needs to be known...it's picturesque! Like right out of a decor magazine. We fell in love with it the moment we walked in. From the absolutely stunning decor, the coziness of it, the fireplace, the beautiful balcony and the romantic lighting...it was perfection!!! We felt right at home in this condo. Whoever designed/renovated this unit, can I please hire you for my next renovation?!
The grounds of the resort are breathtaking. Driving in felt magical...Christmas lights surrounding a huge lake as you drive around and up to the lodge itself. Stunning! The staff were all so pleasant and check-in was a breeze. We used the heated pool and had a blast playing ping pong which was adjacent to the pool. The only, and I stress only, downside we encountered was not being able to partake in the smores night because we were told they were understaffed. Big bummer. Also, and this needs mentioning, the lodge is close to town, however, it did not seem like it was very walkable. We did have a car and used that to get around town and to drive to Appalachian Ski Mnt (@ 3 miles away) but walking distance to town is questionable. I highly recommend this resort and this particular condo, JUNIPER 10!

Elleinfl,

Thank you so much for your wonderful 5-star review and kind words! We are so delighted to hear that you had a fantastic stay in the Juniper 10 condominium at Chetola Resort. We're also happy to hear that you loved the Christmas light decor, the staff, and your check in experience. We do apologize that the s'mores were not available but hope to have them back for your next visit. We also apologize that you did not find town very walkable, many of our guests, staff, and other visitors love to walk to town from Chetola but it is purely based on personal preference on whether it is a viable option. But town is only a 10 minute walk from the main lodge. We hope to see you again soon for another wonderful stay in Juniper 10!

Kind regards,
Tristan Thomas

We stayed at this lovely resort over our kids' winter break to experience skiing for the first time, and were not disappointed. We were in the Cascades II unit, which was cozy and luxurious with plenty of room for our family of five. The decorations and landscaping are gorgeous at Chetola, but the gym and common rec areas are a bit outdated. (Not a huge deal as we didn't have much time for that anyway!)

Room tip: The condos are wonderful if you need more space

Excellent mini-trip to Blowing Rock as well as to Chetola. We enjoyed the Spa, workout areas, and Timberlake's Restaurant. The food was awesome!! We had duck and NC trout... Both dishes were delicious. We plan to come back up in the Spring. Great place to hang for a few days.
