We have stayed at The Horton several times. The staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating. They go above and beyond to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Other things we love about The Horton are:
The location is unbeatable, especially if you are there to visit App. Parking in Boone can be nightmarish so having a dedicated parking spot is tremendously helpful.
The beds are incredibly comfortable. I am picky about mattresses and often wake up after a night in a hotel bed with aches but every time I’ve spent the night at The Horton, I wake up refreshed and pain free.
The rooftop bar is a great spot for a glass of wine before or after dinner. The view is spectacular.
The decor is charming and unique. It’s all very welcoming and accessible and most importantly, comfortable. From the chairs in the lobby to the fuzzy rugs on the floor: it’s all impeccable.
I know these next few will sound minor but it’s the minor things that really sell this place. The hand soap and other toiletries smell heavenly. They sell it in their gift shop and I am always tempted to get some. Maybe next time I’m there I’ll take the plunge.
The hair dryers are fantastic. They are powerful and hot. Anyone who knows why this is important, doesn’t need me to explain. ;)

Yes, many of the rooms don’t have windows but the CCTV with the feed from King St is pretty cool. I most recently stayed in one of the bottom floor rooms and, while I could hear footsteps it wasn’t horrible and I slept well.
My husband and I will always try to get a room here first. We like supply local establishments and the parks are just that good.More
