The room was clean and they allowed our pets. That was a life saver for us as we left everything behind and our house a block from the beach and we had a mandatory evacuation. The front office staff was anything but friendly. Here are two examples: They acted like everyone who came to check in was a problem. They were rude and short with people. I stood by and heard them say to a customer that “because you in the area, you can’t have a room. It’s policy.” The couple explained that their house took 4 inches of rain and wind damage from the hurricane and they needed a room.” The woman said, “I’m sorry.” She didn’t give them a room. At this point, I had already been checked in for days and had gone to speak to the office because our neighbors in the room next to us went to extend their stay, had to move rooms because they had already rented it out. In the process, she had left what little clothes she had in a dresser. She went to the front and requested housekeeping to return her clothes because that was all she had left. Rather than looking in housekeeping, they said, housekeeping had gone for the day. She was in tears because they then said to go to WALMART and buy some things. She told them she had no money except to pay for hotel. Again their response was sorry. When I told them what she was going thru, she needed her clothes, they said they would check in the morning when housekeeping came in. I was appalled! I knocked on the new renters door, they allowed me in to look for the clothes. They weren’t there. I ended up giving the lady a little cash to get her some clothes and necessities. We don’t have much either but seriously they could have done more.
On a side note. The grounds were kept up well and the manager kept walking around the building and getting markers out for downed tree limbs and such during the storm.
The breakfast was decent and more than expected. Even though it was continental, they offered quite a lot of options. (Several juices and milks, waffles, boiled eggs, pastries, cereal, grits, oatmeal, egg and sausage muffins, yogurt, fruit, and muffins)
The rooms had decent bed and bedding. The TVs were a good size and the microwave and the refrigerator were decent sized. I do wish they offered more electric outlets and places to charge phones and computers. There was only 1 electrical cord that could plug my husband’s sleep apnea machine. I had to use one of our own electric charge cords and plug it into the microwave outlet to charge my phone.
They had a good area to have to dogs go potty and bags to pick up after them. The pet fee was a one time fee that was reasonable. 50 dollars each pet.
The housekeeping staff was very friendly and spoke little English but seemed to understand me. They allowed me to borrow the vacuum twice over the 8 days to vacuum the room. That way we didn’t have to walk the dogs for them to clean.
I would stay here again if it weren’t for the front office staff.
