Check out clerk seemed to care less about construction noise that woke me!

3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 9 Nov 2018
I had worked for UNC that day very early and needed a good night sleep. WELLLLLLLL... they started construction vehicles with "back up" buzzers at 8am. Hotel should have warned me. Girl at checkout did not ask how my stay was(I am gold) and when I mentioned construction on a Sunday, she never even acknowledged me. DO NOT GET A ROOM ON THE WEST SIDE!

I apologize that the noise of the construction next door interrupted your stay. I also apologize on behalf of my team for failing to meet your service expectation. Your feedback will be shared with our front desk to be sure we are providing good customer service at all times. I hope you'll give us another chance to provide you with a great stay. You can add a request for a room pool side to escape the noise.

My husband and I arrived at the hotel after a very long drive and were greeted by Cheryl (“greeted” is being generous on my part).

Three things are worth mentioning: the check-in process took a long time, so my husband asked if there was a problem (we had prepaid for our room). Cheryl responded, “If there was a problem, I would have told you.” Hmmm . . .

Then, while we’re waiting for the check-in process to finish, the phone rings. Cheryl answered it and started taking care of the caller. REALLY?! Finally she assumed the caller’s request would take some time, so she put them on hold (I believe, a courteous request to the caller to hold from the start would have been the appropriate action).

Third, we finally finished with check-in and turned to find an elevator or a hallway. Not finding any direction for rooms, my husband asked how we could get to our room. Cheryl said we needed to go outside and up the stairway. Even then, we weren’t clear how to find our room number (no signage or maps offered).

Lastly, as we walked into our room, we noted the extension cord on the sofa (see photo). I guess that was for charging devices. I think Quality needs to upgrade their electrical offerings.

On the positive, the bed was very comfortable and the hotel setting was really lovely.

I just wish the staff had been more cordial and accommodating . . .

I did not enjoy my stay at this hotel. I had found bugs on my first night, and had to ask the front desk on two separate days to spray the room while I was at work. The bugs continued to be a problem even after the alleged spraying took place. My coworker had similar problems in her room as well. We ended up buying Knock Out from a veterinarian and treats the rooms ourselves. The rooms were “cleaned” every day, meaning they changed sheets and towels, but somehow missed the dead roach I killed on top of the mini-fridge the second night I was there. As far as I know, it is still there. To extend my stay at long term rate due to a longer deployment, i had to get permission from the manager. Unfortunately, the manager was never in when I was there, and I could not call her from work during business hours, as the hotel’s main phone line was not in service. By the time I manage to get in touch with the manager, she had overbooked the hotel due to a college football game. I left for a much cleaner room at a different chain. The only bright spot of my visit was the concierge named Precious, she was very helpful and always cheerful.

We were warmly greeted late at night by Tori in the hotel lobby, who quickly took care of our reservation. Even though she was flooded by customers, she never lost her patience or efficiency. This set the tone for a nice stay. The room was clean and quiet. The continental breakfast was sufficient for our appetites as well as clean and well stocked. Will plan on staying here again on our next overnight trip to Chapel Hill.

They went the extra mile in finding me a reservation during the hurricane. There was always someone at the front desk to answer questiins. Tori was great. The room was great and well prepared. The room was comfy and well laid out. Comfy bed. Good linens — sheets and towels.
