Challenging course with elevated greens. Greens usually run around 8-9. Well maintained with a decent pro shop and great food at the Bistro. About $45/round.

The Pines golf course in Elizabeth City offers players at every level an enjoyable golfing experience in a beautiful northeastern North Carolina setting. With numerous water hazards and fairway bunkers on both the front and back sides, the course generally calls for considerable accuracy off the tee, as well as in your approach shots to the putting greens. The greens are well protected, and there's usually plenty of trouble lurking if you don't stick them. Once on, you'll find them to roll very true and quite fast. While the course is not exceptionally long by most standards, it will prove to be a very fair test for players at all skill levels. My group thoroughly enjoyed our first-time outing there, and we will definitely play The Pines again.

I've played golf for over 30 years and feel this is one of the better courses I've played. Its grounds are excellent. The course is set up for beginners off the short tees and better players off the tips. Of course you can play according to your HDCP by picking a tee rated close to what you play at home. The fairways are generous. The greens are mostly elevated and average in size. You'll need an extra club if your not used to carrying your ball flight to elevated greens. Its Par 72 and can be played in less then 4 hours. I walked the golf course.

There is a new chef and management at The Bistro. Both are highly professional and truly talented. The chef's cuisine is New South, farm to table. The breakfast is wonderful and features Layden's country store sausage. The corned beef hash is made with house prepared corned beef. The dinner menu changes with availability of fresh produce, seafood, and meats. The lunch is very popular and includes a blue plate special daily. The view is great, the atmosphere casual. You really need to try The Bistro at The Pines!
