When you open the door to your room and are first greeted with very stained carpet, the only thing that could make you feel more like a 1-star hotel would be if the room stunk. And when you see that inside your Holiday Inn Express room, you just feel cheated. The parking lot was so dark my husband decided to count how many exterior lights were out--12!!!! These 12 included ones that should have lit up both side entry doors. Not exactly a safe feeling for leaving your vehicle all night or entering the building after dark. When I went for a morning workout and saw a "temporarily closed" sign on the door, I asked front desk how long it had been closed--2-3 months. Yeah. So much for temporarily! The twisted shower curtain rod kept the curtain from shutting properly and showered the floor as well. The black grease on the window sheer added to the aura of neglect.
We asked for a rate that pertained to the meeting we were attending. We were told there was no special rate, yet they gave us that rate, but didn't mention that the AAA rate was $20/night cheaper. The 1st clerk told us that was too bad, that she couldn't change it. When we checked out, the clerk did adjust the rate.
Yay for turkey sausage!!! The breakfast superseded many hotels' breakfasts just by including that. Otherwise rather standard fare.
