On the plus side, the food is pretty good and the service excellent. I had some problems with the menu because I need food that's gluten free (not optional- I have celiac disease) and am also using an extremely low carb diet and exercise to help keep diabetes under control.

So I look for a lot of vegetables plus a little protein, and usually look for a good salad to which broiled seafood can be added. Not on the menu here, though they have a salad bar - small but with a good selection of really fresh ingredients. Dinners of broiled seafood have 2 sides, just one of which can be a SMALL salad bar trip. The only thing you can order along with a large salad bar is soup. The only real option I had for something as simple as a salad with catch of the day on it would have been to order a full dinner plus an unlimited salad bar.

But if you're not an avid salad eater, none of this will affect you. The Quarterdeck has pretty good food and the catch of the day is wonderfully fresh. Very nice people too.

Really solid food. Great burgers and wings that might be best on Hatteras Island. Very reasonably priced with very nice staff.

We enjoyed a previous visit to the Quarterdeck, but his visit found a number of disappointments. Their menu advertised salad bar was “down” and they offered a side salad as an alternative. They had run out of an appetizer and had no baked potatoes for sides. This was at 6:45 pm on a Monday evening. Two of us had their combo of crab meat and shrimp, both broiled in butter. The shrimp was over cooked and doused in paprika. The crab was cooked better than the shrimp, but neither had any evidence of butter or juices in the ceramic serving dish. A couple had the blue fish, but did not care for it...blues are not the best eating fish if you are used to more fluffy white fish. The service was attentive and the $5 margaritas were a nice bonus.

Overall, a disappointment.

Loved the fried shrimp, very lightly breaded. They were probably done flour, buttermilk, flour right to order as the covering was very light and the shrimp had a lot of curl. Very light and great

My husband and I enjoyed a nice Sunday lunch at Quarterdeck. Our server, Lexus, was courteous and prompt. The fried oysters and crab cakes were delish! Hush puppies were hot and perfectly fried. But the highlight was the homemade coconut cream pie! Meringue was so fluffy. Lots of coconut. Crust was amazing. The owner makes the pies. You can buy a whole pie if desired. We had a nice conversation with her when she came to check on us. Great place for lunch or dinner. Nice view of sound.
