My table of 4 friends and I agreed that their She Crab Soup was some of the best we ever had. Definitely worth a trip,
Attractive place with water views indoors and out. Food was good - $24 grilled mahi (catch of the day) for me, a $29 fried seafood platter for him. Portions were probably perfect for people doing appetizer and dessert as well though we weren't.
I ordered my fish with the vegetable of the day - 4 or 5 broccoli florets and 5 or 6 slices of carrot, all fresh and nicely done tender-crisp, and coleslaw that came in a little ceramic dish. This was the meal suggested if you're gluten-free. I was happy enough to order it - would otherwise have asked if they're okay with making one of their salads without the croutons. Different meats can be added to them.
My husband's seafood platter plus his own dish of coleslaw filled half of his plate, the rest of which was filled with french fries.
All very tasty and a great waitress too. We might eat there again, but it's not on our must-do list for the next visit.
We were staying at the Breakwater Inn, so the restaurant was very convenient to try. We were glad we did. We ate outside and had a nice view of the water and boats. There was live music that evening which really added to the atmosphere. We had fresh tuna and tuna tacos. Both were good choices. Enjoyable evening after a fun day in Hatteras!
Our very large group of 23 arrived here at opening (5 PM) on a Friday night in the height of the summer. The hostess was able to quickly pull together tables and get us all seated.
Our waitress did an excellent job handling our huge group and was even able to accommodate multiple checks with people sitting in different areas! I was pleasantly surprised at her expertise and speed.
The food was delicious. I had the broiled seafood platter and the various items were all cooked to perfection and the portions were plentiful.
If we ever come back to Hatteras, I know we will be stopping by The Breakwater!
