Why do I like Holiday Inn Express? Seems like I can count on clean accommodations, a consistent, modern look, nothing fancy - basically reliable comfort away from home. For this price, many hotels have noisy air-handling units, loose plumbing fixtures and other random reminders that you got a great price for the room. This hotel had none of those irksome problems. Clean, quiet, well-maintained with great staff. A couple of details made this stay exceptionally pleasant for me. First, I was using loyalty points to pay for the stay. I have had experiences in the past using points where the staff make you feel like you're getting a free ride. Not here. I was welcomed, thanked for using loyalty points and offered an upgrade to a Jacuzzi King Room. Great start! Like most travelers, I have a couple of pet peeves. First, there must be decent coffee in the room and a coffee maker that is easy and convenient to operate. (No really!. One hotel I was in recently had a perfectly good Mr. Coffee machine on a side table several feet away from an electrical outlet. I had to balance it on a chair to make coffee!) By contrast, this hotel has a Keurig machine in the room. Perfect! Then there's the breakfast. I like the sausage patty and eggs which many places offer. These were good. But I also like yoghurt - real yoghurt. Kudos to this hotel, it had the Chobani yoghurt - not the "light and lively" stuff with numerous contaminants. I think for us all it's the little things that make the difference. For me, this hotel hit the mark on several little things.
