I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Golden Strand. It was clean, neat, and well-maintained. The best part of it all was my view from the living room and master bedroom. I was just a few feet from the ocean. I went to sleep and woke up to the sound of the crashing surf. Also saw a few surfers each morning. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again.

We have stayed here several times, and while the resort is older, it is well-maintained and always very clean. There is an elevator and luggage carts are available to facilitate checkin. The unit is supplied with linens, soaps and paper products. There is a full kitchen and washer and dryer are located on the ground level on your way to the beach.
The location is by far the best feature of the resort. You just walk over the boardwalk-type access and down the stairs and you are on the beach.
There is a pool, but we did not use it.
The view is great, you can sit on your deck and watch the sun rise, or watch the surfers out early in the morning.
There are lots of good restaurants nearby and also grocery stores.
It's all about the location.

Room Tip: Request top floor, if available

The outside of the Golden Strand is not impressive like most of the older places in the OBX, but from the i elevator to the clean, new appearance in the inside it's pne of the nicer places on the beach. Though a time share, you can rent it when available. Our place was a nice 3 bedroom upper floor unit with a large ocean front balcony. Master suite has a large 2 person jacuzzi tub. Full condo like set up with full kitchen. Has a large street front warm pool for when the ocean currents are too cold. Beach is right there and not crowded. Downstairs shower and community washer and dryer. Plenty of parking.

Room Tip: Upper two floors for the view

I love this place, been going here since I was a little baby. It's like my home away from home my second place the place on earth. I come here every year. I also make sure to request time off work to come here. I can't wait to come here in 2017 in August.

Appliances are so dated. Shower is pathetic. Hard to get anythinf out of your hair. God help you if you have a little kid like i do and they need a shower to get the sand out of their hair. Then theres 1 elevator its on the other end of the complex. The reception on the tvs are not good even though theyre on cable! The artwork is from the 70s as well as most of the appliances. We put their tea pot on the stove to heat some water and the stove was smoking but there wasnt anything stuck to it.
There are only stairs to the beach so you cant wheel your things there. There is a dune u can walk over but you have to walk around the fence up to the main street to get to it .
The beach is only about 30 feet and thats in low tide. In high tide you get about 15 feet of sand to use. No w/d in unit. When it rains the water flows off the roof like a waterfall in various spots becauze the roof is all flat and i guess they didnt make any kind of gutter system. Water floods across the walkways as well because of this. The outlets in the bathrooms have gone bad and kept causing our driers to go in and out of power so we had to use the hall sockets. They have dark curtains but no blinds.

There is a foot wash at the complex. The view is wonderful though. The beds are okay. The complex is quiet and the stairs arent impossible. Its fairly clean. There was sand in the freezer when we got here.
The porch seems freshly done.
