Grill and raw bar. Carribean style. Very popular. Numerous lunch and dinner specials. Appetizers include Goombay's Sampler -coconut shrimp, fried shrimp, and crab, crab stuffed portobello, onion rings, tuna bites, and wings. Lunch includes sandwiches and lots of salads. Dinner offers ribs, steak, filet of fish, tuna oscar, crab cakes, pecan fried grouper, jazzy chucked, seafood kingston, curry chicken or shrimp, oysters, crab legs, lots of pasta available with seafood, clams, and lots of steamed vegetables. Numerous beers and wines available. Lots of choices and everything is well prepared. Just a fun place to go in Kill Devil Hills. Wonderful service as well. You will have a great time. No they don't take reservations. Very popular with the locals.

We chose Goombays because there is a similar restaurant (not affiliated in any way) in Florida where we had very eclectic food. Even though this one wasn't nearly as eclectic, the food was still excellent. We had their crab cakes, Al-E-Gator bites, and the Goombay Sampler, along with a couple of unusual beers (Duck Rabbit Stout and Hoppyum IPA). Everything was prepared perfectly! The aligator tail with their dipping sauce was my favorite. Perfectly crispy outside, and tender morsels inside! John, our server, was attentive. Food service was surprisingly fast. I would eat here again (and again)!

Ordered half dozen oysters. One came out grey/black and smelt of sewage. It was obvious that was contaminated. The other oysters did not taste fresh either. We complained and the server instead of not charging for it, gave us $1 discount on our final bill which did not even cover the price of the contaminated oyster.
Rice and beans was awful. Dry and flavorless.

Second stop at Goombays and not disappointed yet. Seafood selections are good. Had the fried oysters. Portion was generous and very tasty. Prices are moderate.
Not disappointed yet. We will return.

Prompt service with an excellent meal! There were 9 in our party including children. The fish, shrimp, and chicken were all well prepared.
