Friendly staff, nice pool, good location. We were a little surprised to find out that the room labelled "small, no balcony" had floor-to-ceiling windows facing a hallway and another set of windows, making us feel like we were in a zoo exhibit, but in the end, nobody really ever walked by and it was fine.

It is always appreciated when a guest takes the time to review their recent stay with us. We strive to provide the best to our guests. Our staff is top notch when assisting our guests, our pool is pristine, and being located smack in the middle of the OBX is a definite plus. I am not sure why you were surprised to find that the room labeled "small, no balcony" had large windows. That room is in a hallway so- yes- there are windows inside your room as well as outside...those windows provide a beautiful partial view of the ocean. In an effort to make that room not feel claustrophobic we indeed do have floor to ceiling windows. There are only 2 rooms like this in the hotel . They are both the same, with the same description of the rooms, and they are also the least expensive rooms available. I am glad to hear that in the end...what you thought would be a problem ended up not being an issue at all for you.
Thank you,

What a lovely review to open up today. It is wonderful so see a guest who can appreciate our hotel for what it is. We are among the oldest hotels here on the Outer Banks, with all the charm of times gone by-Yet modern and up kept.
The employees here take a great deal of pride in what they have come to think of as "their" hotel. It is nice to see that the front desk staff, as well as the housekeepers enhanced your stay with us. We trust the next time you find yourselves in the Outer Banks you once again will choose us.
Sincerely yours,

I'll start with the good...
The location was perfect! Directly across the street from the beach (tough street to cross is you have young kids) and a very short drive to great restaurants and things to do.
The room was so spacious and beds were comfortable.
Super friendly staff.
Pet friendly. This area in general seems to be pretty pet friendly, so this was a great option if you're bringing fido.

And the bad...
We opened the pull out sofa and I'm not sure if the sheets were just messy or never changed from the previous guest. Luckily there were fresh sheets in the drawer so we just changed them to be safe.
Room had a mustiness to it. Even with the air conditioner running it never went away (and it was not hot when we stayed).
Our room had this huge wall of windows, which would be great if it didn't have a walkway in front of it. We felt like we were on display, so we just kept the curtains closed our whole stay.
Free breakfast was sad. It was in such a tiny spot and the options were really bad.

Overall, not a bad stay but I'd stay somewhere else next time. While the staff was great the hotel just had a rundown feel to it.

It is always appreciated when a guest takes the time to review their stay with us. All guest feedback is important-the positive as well as the negative. I want to thank you for providing me the opportunity to address your issues. The staff strives to be the best we can- so it is nice to see that our guests notice. The room that you were in is our suite. It is the largest room in the hotel with 2 queen beds,a sofa sleeper-and a large sitting area with table and chairs, so it is ideal for a big group. That room is indeed located on our 4th floor outside hallway and has floor to ceiling windows which give you a beautiful view of the ocean. As you stated though it is in a hallway so there is of course guest traffic. Our breakfast is actually a pretty nice one with over 25 items some of which is - egg biscuits, an assortment of hot & cold cereals and grits, bagels ,toasts, fruit ,juices, waffles, yogurt, and donuts. While most of our guests find it above average for a FREE breakfast-there are 5 restaurants within 4 miles of the restaurant which serve a better variety should you care for something more specific and 2 of them even serve breakfast till 1p.m..
I always feel it is a good rule of thumb to call and check with actual front desk of a hotel after you have made your reservations either on the internet or through a 3rd party (which is your case) just confirm exactly what you have booked and to be sure it will suit your families needs. When speaking to the actual front desk they can give you all the specifics as they know the property well and the 3rd parties only see a photo of the room. In this day and age of computers it is easy to obtain the front desk phone number for any hotel. We will certainly be sorry to loose your future business and trust that in spite of your issues you were still able to enjoy your vacation here on the Outer Banks.
Respectfully yours,
D.Lorditch

We stayed here for two nights while visiting the outer banks. Room was clean but a little worn. The volume on the tv had to be turned to the max just to hear the tv. The refrigerator was not working properly and did not keep any food or drinks cold.

The complimentary breakfast was average. It consisted of microwave sausage and egg biscuits. There was also fruit and other serve yourself items.

The staff was pleasant and helpful with any request or questions we had. Because of the location and price of rooms we would consider staying here again.

It is always appreciated when a guest takes the time to review our property. Whether with positive feedback or even constructive feedback. It is through these reviews we can see what we are doing right to satisfy our guests. In the event there are any issues which need to be addressed, well knowing about them is imperative to help keep the hotel up to the high standards we set for ourselves. The staff here take a great deal of pride in what they think of as "their" hotel so I am glad to see that it shows. Upon check in we remind every guest if there is anything at all they need.....there is a staff member at the front desk 24/7 to assist them. We just recently replaced all of our televisions with state of the art flat screens. The manufacturer has the volume control set to a certain level...a simple phone call to the front desk, would have brought an employee with a master control to fix that issue in a minute. If a guest doesn't let us know there is an issue with an appliance well we simply can't fix it. If you had mentioned that your fridge wasn't working after a few hours of being here-we would have taken it out and replaced it with a new one. Unfortunately its like the old saying"we can't fix it if we don't know it's broke" hopefully the next person who has that room will give us a heads up so we can immediately rectify the problem.(not knowing what room you were in makes it impossible to replace it before another guest occupies it).
Lastly our breakfast is often complimented by our guests as "One of the BEST FREE breakfasts they have had". With over 25 items too choose from including-waffles, a variety of hot & cold cereals, assorted grits, fresh fruit, milk, juices, yogurt, donuts and of course biscuits with egg & cheese or sausage. On the occasion that a guest is looking for a different menu or variety there are several restaurants right in the area two of which serve breakfast until 1p.m.
We are one of the least expensive hotels here on the Outer Banks centrally located right in the middle of the whole island. We are glad to hear that was an important factor in letting others know that in spite of your minor issues you would still consider staying with us again.
Thank You,
D.Lorditch
