Went for the first time on 4/18. It was the beginning of bike week, which I had seen advertised at length in the Outer Banks area. It was a perfectly beautiful day, warm and sunny. Longboards is one of the few restaurants/bars advertised on the bike week website/posters as having DJs and bands throughout the afternoon and evenings so it's not a surprise that it was pretty busy, especially given the forecasted weather. They were equipped with ONE waitress at the bar. Not only was she alone, but she didn't seem to care; moving at a mediocre pace and taking orders of people who had just walked up to the bar if they were obnoxious enough, while disregarding those who stood there for 15 minutes waiting for their first drink. We gave up waiting and hit the outside deck to sit at a table in hopes for a waitress, as we wanted a meal as well. It took another 15 minutes or so but she did come and was very nice. We finally got our drinks about another 10 minutes later (2 beers so not a hard thing to prep). In about 1/2 hour, my hubby's meal arrived. He asked where mine was and the waitress (not the one that took our order) looked confused, asked what I ordered and said she'd check. Another 15-20 min later, I saw the original waitress walk by and we got her attention. She also said she'd check. About another 10 minutes later my food (a deep fried app that takes about 30 sec to "make") finally showed up. I asked why there weren't more people staffed during an event and she said they didn't think they'd be busy as they weren't last year. She also stated it was cold and rainy during it last year. I guess the owner/manager would rather not staff instead of checking out the weather forecast and realizing it may be a good opportunity to make $$. We will not return there, and heard many others say the same. The food was typical average bar food and my hubby's beer was a little more than room temp. Kinda sad.
