I surprised my husband with a pre-Valentine's Day weekend (Feb. 10, 2012) at The Lodge! We were made to feel at home from the moment we walked in the front door. The staff is unbelievable; the room was beautiful (we had a fireplace and an awesome view of Lake Lure) and spacious; the entire lodge was spotless (not a speck of dust anywhere); the breakfasts were out of this world - everything was fresh; the dinners were extremely good (if you are a picky eater say something as soon as you arrive; they will accommodate you); the wine tastings were very special - wonderful food and great wine (we found a new fav). The environment was so relaxing and we felt that from the other guests as well; we all sat around the fire afer dinner sipping our vino, laughing, getting to know one another - simply having a wonderful time! We met couples from England, California, and of course, North Carolina.

Room Tip: I believe all of the rooms are outstanding. However, I do prefer the main lodge, especially in the w...

A prior review from us was posted in June, 2011. It was that visit that made us return for our Anniversary in March 2012. Yes, it was that good! The lodge itself, even in the cooler months, is cozy, beautiful and welcoming. The people at the lodge are friendly, helpful and kind. They are also fun and knowledgeable and make you feel right at home! This time, we stayed in one of the larger lake view rooms with a balcony. It was fabulous! You could not do better for a romantic getaway! We also got to tour several of the other rooms, and in truth, you can't go wrong with any of them. Each one has something wonderful to offer. Ok, a few highlights of our weekend:

1. the extremely accomodating manager and (very skilled) chef, fixed a beautiful anniversary meal on Friday. The food was splendid. We ate each course and did so for taste... it was hard not to. The wine selection was also lovely and they are great at suggestions!

2. they surprised us with some champagne in our room. A really nice touch.

3. the cocktial/hors d'oeuvres hour was also delish and fun! Enjoying the other guests and staff, talking about your day, relaxing to a fireplace and a beautiful view. Just wonderful.

4. the breakfasts... made to order and so terrific. Things like eggs benedict or french toast along with yogurts, juices, coffee... etc.

5. peaceful morning walk around the property, the surrounding roads with seldom a car and mostly a bird song... we loved mornings here!

overall, another fantastic stay at this lodge and we can't wait to go back. I'll say this, although the lodge is fantastic, it's the people that make it what it is. Everyone from the front to the kitchen is just a welcome you won't get somewhere else. We now think of this as our lodge and we hope that all of you will enjoy it your next trip as well.

happy vacationing...

Just came home from a 1 night stay at the Lodge and I'll give everyone a play by play! I was excited to do this because we truly had a lovely time. It's very secluded, so expect to travel on some winding mountain roads. The whole area of Lake Lure almost actually has an alurring sense about it. Pardon the pun. Everything seems a little mystical from the gentle haze covering the mountain tops, to the lake way of life that you witness while driving along side the water and view the water-front homes. For some, you can tell they have vacation homes, for others it seems like a daily living spot. The houses along the water are so unique and interesting. Ok so back to the LODGE! We stayed in room 2 (half and half) and it was perfectly adorned and comfortable. The shower was delightful because of the Thymes toiletries that I personally love. There is no tub in this bathroom. The remote to the TV has a non-functioning channel up/down button but that was the ONLY thing I noticed that needs some attention. The balcony was delightful with a 75% view of the lake and stairs that lead down into the garden. Bring your walking shoes. We did not dine for dinner, but we did dine for breakfast. The self-serve complimentary breaksfast bar had homemade biscuits (delish!), toast, cereal etc. and juice. We also had the option of ordering french toast or eggs benedict. All complimentary and QUITE delicious. The french toast was amazing - made with cinnamon bread. The staff are all very friendly and accomodating. Be prepared for there to not be a refrigerator in your room, nor for there to be free beverages. However, there is free coffee and tea so that is great. Just bring some bottled water of your own, or some soft drinks and ask for ice if you need it. All in all, the Lodge is supremely kept and a wonderful visit.

We went to Chimney Rock in late April 2011. We stayed at The Lodge on Lake Lure overnight. It is a beautiful bed and breakfast. Our room was one of the less expensive rooms at the lodge and it was still fantastic. We had a balcony that overlooked the lake and plenty of privacy. Our room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was very nice with a large jacuzzi tub and separate enclosed shower. The lodge itself is wonderful. We had complimentary hors d'oeuvres and wine in the lodge in the afternoon with some of the other guests. There was coffee and pastries out for the guests around the clock. Breakfast was wonderful. My husband and I enjoyed our specially prepared omelets along with pastries, fruit, coffee and juice for breakfast the next morning in the lodge with a gorgeous view of the lake. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We left the next morning and went to Biltmore House. We really enjoyed everything about our stay at The Lodge on Lake Lure.

Room Tip: We had an end room on the 2nd level.
