My daughter and I took a run from our hotel to the pier. We were hoping to stretch out on the pier but found out there was a fee to walk to the end. We didn’t get to enjoy the view over the ocean :(

This is a must see spot for visitors to the Outer Banks. Incredible views. Longest & best built & maintained fishing pier on the Banks. Operated by the Aquarium Society, so you can feel good about where your money is going. Cleaning stations with sinks. Plenty of benches, shelters, bait & tackle shop with coffee, ice cream & other snacks. They have a couple of aquarium tanks with local fish. Very cool to see them swimming. Bathrooms beautiful and clean. Two bathhouses with showers outside by the beach, free to the public. Pier is $14 per fishing adult & $2 per non-fishing adult.

We went to pay for admission and because the turbine at the end of the pier was being worked on, they charged us half price without our asking.
We watched surfers, fishermen and just basked in the warm sun on the pier. A great outing for a few hours.

This is the best spot on the outer banks to destress the view and the beautiful sound of the waves lulls you to your favorite place

It was great walking out to the end of the pier and feeling the Nor'easter waves pounding into the ocean. I had never seen waves like these before. On this particular day, the pier was the site of various field trips of students experiencing fishing. We saw some people attempt to surf the waves and a local person told us to go down to the Black Pelican (restaurant) and see numerous surfers. Wow, was he correct!
