My first stay at the Crew's Inn was in 1989 and it's still our B&B of choice on Ocracoke, so it must be pretty darned good! It's also a very good value and has always been worth the stay.

It's a bit quirky and rustic and full of character as any old-time house on the island will be. The rooms are clean, quiet, comfortable, and restful and the house is in a great location for walking or biking around town. The wrap around porch is a wonderful place to spend some time just hanging out and visiting with the chickens, ducks, and the occasion wandering cat.

Ike the inn keeper will take good care of you, and keeps an good eye on happenings around the house. Breakfast is very laid back and mostly self service, but Ike is happy to cook you eggs to order and ask if you need anything. He'll also fill you in on island history and suggest things to do and places to see if you ask.

I'm sure the Crew's Inn is not the fanciest or most up-to-date B&B on the island, but it works just fine for us and we're likely to stay there every time we come to the island as long as they'll take us.

Room Tip: All the rooms are nice, with my favorites being the downstairs rooms.

When you're at the Crews Inn, you're on island time immediately! We were greeted by Ike when we arrived, but there were cute room assignments tacked up on the board in case no one was there when we arrived. We had the Ike & Sue Room on the first floor for four nights. It was a great room! I have to comment on the bed. It was SOOOOOOO comfortable and the sheets were so soft! Heavenly!
We missed breakfast two days because of other plans, but the two days we got breakfast, we had delicious eggs and toast with fruit, yogurt with granola, orange juice, coffee, etc. It was great!
The Inn is the PERFECT location to walk to anywhere downtown. We didn't even rent bikes or a golf cart, it was a great location for what we needed.
We had a marvelous trip!

Room Tip: Ike & Sue was a great room on the first floor!

This was a great find for those who have some mobility issues with first floor rooms. Ike was such a pleasure and the breakfasts were super. The chill vibe in town makes a stay on the island as quintessential as Ike says," I like these people. They make me feel normal."

Room Tip: first floor "parlor" room has a shower seat

Crews is a quaint little B&B situated on a quiet back street but well within walking distance to just about anywhere you want to go on the island. Ike, the housekeeper, can provide you with any information you need about the island or give you suggestions about the various dining establishments. The house was built around 1908 and has five rooms for rent. This B&B provides only the basics so don't expect a lot of pampering or to have your room freshened each day of your stay. That said, the price you pay is reasonable for the services rendered. Ike prepared us a hot breakfast each morning with coffee to get our day started. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again if on the island.

Room Tip: Bottom floor rooms are best as they have bathrooms and easy access.

I felt a sense of peace wash over me as soon as we pulled into the drive of this charming three-story house. Not only was the housekeeper, Ike, awesome (and judging by previous posts, I'm not the only one who thinks so!), but everything from the antique glass Clorox bottles used as vases to the ducks waddling around in the yard added to the allure of the place. And, of course, there's nothing like having a great pot of coffee waiting for you in the morning that you can enjoy while sitting in a rocking chair on a wraparound porch! I can't wait to go back to see what Ike has done next with the gardens!
