What a great place to explore. Luckily there was a group visiting so they opened up access to the cellars. I have never seen so many underground rooms in one building. The place is well looked after and maintained, very friendly people at the door and other areas. I thought it was value for money to be able to see how the rich people lived in remote areas.

A visit to Martindale Hall is well worth the visit to see how living in remote areas was for the wealthy. A very nice place.

A beautiful manor house that I would expect to see in Europe somewhere. Lovely to wander around and read about the lives of the people who lived there. The signs could do with some updating though. I got the impression that furniture and art had been moved around since they were written.

Rare opportunity to see an excellent presentation of a heritage property and how the well off lived in the early settlement of Australia. A must visit if in south Australia.

Visited Martindale Hall in the town of Mintaro, South Australia and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The building was built in 1879/80 and built with local sandstone in the Georgian style. It consists of 32 rooms plus a cellar of 7 rooms. Although a lot of these rooms are not open to the public, those that are, display a magnificence of a time long gone. The splender of a time in Australian history can be seen here and it was enjoyed by those who had the wealth, influence and prosperity. The entrance fee of $12.50 per person was worth it and photos could be taken however the flash could not be used. To be able to read the information sheets and study every room that is open on two floors a couple of hours is needed. Unfortunately I did not make any observation regarding disabled entry or assistance to the second floor so I am unable to comment in regards to this. I would recommend Martindale Hall to those who are interested in early Australian settlement, particularly in South Australia, or to those who are interested in general early Australian settlement by those who had the wealth and prosperity.
