It's hard to not like Pine Needles. It's the Avis to Pinehurst Resort's Hertz, or the little sibling to the bigger brother. Pine Needles has always been a family affair and the feeling has been genuine to the guest. The golf and the food service remains that way - - - which is the primary focus of the visit. The course is grand, and the golf staff are nice as can be. The restaurant staff are fun and very good.

The accommodations are clean. But these are old buildings and rooms that feel as if they have not been renovated in thirty or forty years. The bathroom was small, and there is no counterspace. The TV was small. The in room A/C worked but it seemed to be either full blast bring on the next Ice Age or nothing. Wifi was very very spotty.

We enjoyed our trip, and hope that the owners or new owners can make sure it always remains a gem in the Sandhills.

We booked this hotel for our anniversary & a day of golf. As my husband was checking us in, I stopped at the restaurant to check the menu & see if we would stay for dinner. I was told the restaurant was occupied entirely by the golf school that evening and we could eat in the bar if we wanted. When we got to our room in the Bogie lodge we were very disappointed to find very small, very outdated accommodations with the smallest hotel bathroom we'd ever seen. As bad as that was the view of nothing but the road & parking lot. We were upset by everything & left to explore Pinehurst. When we returned to the hotel, we went to the desk & told Keysha, who was at reception, what had happened. She was very accommodating & changed our room & had us moved to another building with a view of at least the driving range. In summary, there is potential for this facility to be returned to its former charm, but it is seriously in need of repair & updating. The great staff does somewhat make up for what is lacking.

We love historical hotels...if they are kept updated. We were a little worried when we entered our lodge and started up the steps to the Penthouse. Wow, were we surprised to find a beautiful, spacious room on the 3rd floor with front and rear balconies. Comfortable bed, great view from the rear balcony and friendly staff. Recommend 169 Penthouse.

Turn back time. This property is set up in lodge style buildings which feature a lot of natural wood. Very pleasant, clean room decorated with golf items. Everyone I met on their staff was knowledgeable, professional and friendly. Too cold to golf when I visited ,however the course looked great.

My wife and I were very excited to have reservations at the Crest Restaurant at Pine Needles. The excitement faded quickly. The lobster bisque did not have a trace of lobster meat. The prime rib was of poor quality and overlooked. We ordered hot chocolate cake and was brought a frozen piece. Enough said. We will never return. We were comped the meal but we would have much preferred to pay for a quality meal to usher in the new year.
