Sometimes you need to look on a side street for a great place. Jac's Grill is one of those places. They have what they call an ala carte menu which is not really an ala carte menu as it is basically a full meal but you pick your meat, sides and sauces/gravy's from a list. We had the buttermilk chicken which is large and the sides are great also. The butter flavor seems to change also like they had apple butter one night and a cinnamon butter another night. The desserts are not homemade so it might be best to pass on them. They are fine but not spectacular. Servers are friendly also. Not a bad place to go and prices are moderate. Pick this place over a chain restaurant.

We arrived about 5:45 and were immediately seated. Jax’s appears to be a very popular local restaurant as well as a well visited repeat restaurant for travelers such as us.
This was our second visit and the service was excellent.
We recommend the shrimp and grits, the crab cakes and the ribs. Each prepared to perfection with their personal touch.
We shall return!

Thank Les P

Beast on reviews and the AAA tourbook, we decided to eat here on a Friday night on our way south. It was wonderful. It is a small venue seating about 50 in the main dining area and we had to wait about 20 minutes. We were so impressed with the professional servers who were really hustling around the dining room. We opted for appetizers as dinner and my husband had a Caesar salad and calamari which he said was excellent (salad just average). I had a baby spinach salad which was the best I've ever had and the French onion soup. The soup was wonderful and the only criticism I can make is that the onions oils have been a little more cooked--they tended to be a little crunchy. Definitely would go back.

Have eaten here three times. The fried green tomatoes are some of the best I've had. Large portion, tasty breading and good accompaniments. Salads are Huge and tasty. We've sat at the bar and have always had good service!!
