I anticipated a great week of Ayurveda relaxation here and that part and the meals was great. However, the administration and lack of service on the rooms side absolutely ruined my trip.
The rooms were very basic; Spartan to be precise. There was no a/c unless you asked and paid for it, but this was not advised in making reservations and the hotel's on-site management didn't know how how to cope with questions about it or other service in general.
When checking in, I was placed in a basic room that looks nothing like the picture they show on the site. It was in worse shape then my college dorm room, but I thought, OK for basics and I'll be OK. I did ask if they had a ground for location, same type of room, and they said fine and moved me. Now, they watched me pack up all my bags, move my things, unpack them and then....well, I realized there were no screens on the window and asked them to put the a/c on at least. That's when I learned there was no a/c without paying extra. I'm sweating my backside off, as I'm unable to open the windows with no screens and had even asked about screens and then.....only after I had moved did they demand payment for a/c!!!!!! So, I refused and had to move back up to the original room. They didn't care, and they didn't help move my bags after just staring at me ignorantly.
So, then I ask for an adaptor for my computer, as there's no TVs or radio in the room, so that was my resource for entertaining myself. I had to ask several times to get it, even though I asked on check in. Anyway, it was burnt out and sparking, so the next morning I asked for a new one. First at 8 o'clock, then at 10, then at noon.......finally after lunch, I asked for another one and stood at the desk until I got it. 1 o'clock! 5 hours to get an adapter in a hotel with 23 rooms! To make matters worse, they had taken the original adapter and put it back in the drawer to use again!
The next day, I went out on a tour/excursion, but my shower was dripping and I told them that it's best they send someone to fix it and turn it off to not waste water. Up til now, I'm just thinking it's a bump in the road, so I'm being nice. After a full day of touring and then enjoying my dinner, I go to my room and work on my computer. At 9 p.m., I'm ready to shower for bed etc., ....only to find out that there way of fixing my shower was to turn off the water to my room COMPLETELY!. No sink, no toilet and no shower working at all. Noone was around to fix it either. I had to knock on the door of the manager and get him out of his on-site apartment to address it. It still wasn't right, the pressure was now gone, but I had water. The next day, I got the pressure back, but the drip was still there the rest of my stay.
The next day, my room was not made up.....at all. It turns out the guy who was to make up my room had taken the day off. Oil from Ayurveda everywhere along with beach sand.....not nice to sleep....but what the heck; it was like camping as there wasn't even mattress pads on the bed. What did the management say.....Oh;.....sorry. That's it, Sorry.
So now, I'm getting angered by the minute at everything to do with the hotel side. I told them they should make it right and acknowledge their lack of service because I had been very patient. I asked for an airport transfer back, but they hesitated and offered a free tour. I had people to go with, and said OK as I was not trying to bother them. However, it rained and the trip was cancelled, trying to move it to the next day, but I would have had to go by myself and this to me was not right, so I asked for the transport to the airport as originally requested. Here's what the actual owner responded......EXACTLY!
from our side , we are not entitle to to offer a complimentary airport transfer,
there is not so serious or damaged done from our side.
You've got to be kidding me! All of this terrible service and he writes that? Oh yeah, and to make matters worse. The charge that they told me to pay for my bill was one amount and in the exchange rate they gave me they automatically charge an unauthorized 3% fee for handling. They didn't announce this fee and neither did the booking agent. I wasn't advised of it either; they just put it on my bill. So, when I told them it wasn't right, they ARGUED with me and told me it was normal. I'm in the hotel business.....IT IS NOT NORMAL to do this without authorization and it was taking an addition 22 Euros from me without my permission. There was a small hand written sign on a magic marker board at the front desk,.....but in German,.....so really not disclosing this fact.
So between bad service and in essence, unauthorized charges; you would be an absolute idiot to stay at this place. Regardless of the Ayurveda treatments; it is a place you have no assurance of relaxing in because the management and the ownership just plain do not care about doing the right thing and the booking agent doesn't even follow through on the complaints. They'll never get any of my money again and I hope they don't get yours either if you are reading this. There are plenty of other places to go........go to any one of them, but not here.
