We stayed at Evangeline's Tower for one night in the early season. Carol was a delightful and very informative hostess, giving us maps and directions for the whole area. Our room was the "tower", a second-floor area in the turret, with a sitting room in a large sunny bay. My husband was disappointed with the lack of TV in the room, but much consoled by the fact that we were the only guests that night, and we had the downstairs TV area to ourselves. We helped ourselves to the 24-hour coffee and tea early in the morning, and enjoyed Carol's delicious breakfast after. We felt very welcomed there, and the house is charming without being overdone.
Parrsboro is a different kind of town, but that is its forte. We had a great time at the rock shop (a large piece of geode for $3) and strolled the gigantic shale beach(es) at low tide. It actually becomes two parallel beaches, with a lighthouse on the end. You can drive around the bay to look back on the town, and see yet another beach. It is not touristy at all.More
