Stopped here on the way to Erongaricuaro to visit a relative. Had a very nice comida. Had the trout with garlic and pine nuts. Some of the best I've had anywhere. The service was friendly and the view was lovely. Couldn't ask for a better way to start my visit to the area.

p3½* Campestre Aleman
14 km south of Patzcuaro on Hwy 14 south
view of Lake Patzcuaro
Forestral setting; 3 ponds (to farm the trout?) with geese and ducks
Beautiful wooden posts
Kids’ playground
German cuisine; al fresco covered dining
Loved the 4-6 person appetizer plates; could be entrée for two persons sausages, German cole slaw, smoked trout, gouda cheese, garlic bread
The trout was tasty
Chamorro was good
The beef medallions were underwhelming
Nice wine list with reasonable prices
The best apple strudel; but the problem it was ordered a la mode. The ice cream arrived ten minutes before the strudel
Food service questionable

Campestre Aleman is a nice restaurant n the highway from Patzcuaro to Erongaricuaro in between the villages of Arocutin and Uricho...The setting by the lake is charming and the food is quite good. The specialty is smoked trout among other German and Mexican dishes.

It's a great experience to share, I don't know what's best; food, service or the place...
The restaurant its near erongaricuaro and patzcuaro, they serve a vast variety of plates.
I recommend to make a reservation if you visit on weekends or else you'll have to wait a lo g time to get a table.
Chamorro al horno, trout with pistachio, fillet medallions, everything its great!
My dad use to bring us years ago, and I had ages without visiting, its a really quiet, nature-like place to eat and drink well.
Almost forgot, bring a good sweater or windbreaker because it's chilli all the time, all the year.

This is a fine restaurant that unless recommended by another person , no one will know it exists. It is far away from town and access is tricky. Nice view of Isla de Janitzio however.
You have missed the best entrée if you don't order the tasty trout that are raised in their own backyard.
