We visited this hotel on a Sunday lunch time to celebrate my Grandmothers birthday. We have been to this hotel on a few occasions for family celebrations and as always this time was nothing other than wonderful. We always return confident that we will enjoy ourselves and be looked after very well by the very attentive staff. This particular Sunday was no exception, the food was fantastic, the portions very generous, the service excellent and over all very good value! This hotel has a lovely lounge area, which is very relaxing and just perfect for spending quality time catching up with friends and family.

Booked for 'Stay for 1p and dine for 24.99 for the August bank holiday weekend. Having booked and paid for 2 rooms we enquired about the dinner menu we were told "it was a special menu and not the menu displayed on the website." This was not displayed on their website when booking the deal and complained. The hotel subsequently changed their website and insisted the 'deal' never included the usual menu. We then asked for the menu to be emailed to us. The Reservations Manager seemed to have great trouble in forwarding this information and then finally said "the chef will release the menu on the day". We were not happy with this and asked for the manager of the hotel to contact us. The email received from Mr Murphy (Company Secretary - who appears to wear all hats as they don't appear to have a manager) was absolutely unbelievably nasty for a company representative. In short he suggested we had our money back which we were perfectly happy to do as clearly there was something starnge in not issuing a menu. This was a family gathering which he tried to ruin but we stayed at the Premier Inn on the A5 and they did not 'con us' For reference the meals served at the attached pub were delicious. Whilst writing I stayed in this hotel in February (week end of the heavy snow) when I got to my room at the end of the building it was extremely cold - staff were not helpful and didn't care. On the Saturday a wedding was held. When I checked out I realised I my breakfast had been charged to the wedding party. The receptionist was not bothered, laughed and said they would never know! Wedding parites take note! The building is really nice and is what 'sells' this hotel. The staff from the 'top down' do not care.

We stayed here as were attending a wedding nearby. We booked through their website and got the bargain price of £45 (non refundable) exc breakfast (which was an extra £9.50 each). What can I say, clean, basic, but with a huge TV. Also had tea and coffee making facilities and a pack of jellie beans! Some of our friends heard a fight break out in the pub next door with bins etc being thrown but I am a heavy sleeper and didn't hear any of this. I would stay again for sure, and it did what it said on the tin!

Just returned from a two night stay at the old palace lodge , it was a Birthday treat and it was a very relaxing stay. We stayed in a Executive room which was very clean with modern furnishings, the meals were ecellent and the staff all very helpfull, ideal location for the Dunstable Downs or Whipsnade zoo, a very enjoyable stay and would love to stay there again sometime.
