Refreshing to have a menu that is relatively small but makes it difficult for you to choose as everything sounds interesting.

We were a party of 4 and found it really good with the exception of how warm the food was (not the sous vide dishes that we were warned about). The menu was really tasty and we all had something different so that we could try a bit of everything

The doughnuts sadly were not available but the Guinea Fowl was worth going for that alone. Definitely will be back.

We went for Sunday Lunch. The 3 course menu was small, but that means it's all fresh to us! The food was outstanding, two of our party are regular business lunchers and for them to be so pleased is a feat. The presentation of the food was a treat. We would like to compliment the restaurant on the waiting staff- they were well spoken, well groomed and well trained. We felt that it was well priced. Lovely to see having not returned since our wedding reception years ago.....we will be back.

We had really been looking forward to this meal for a friend's birthday. The scallops to start were cold and had to be sent back to the kitchen, the duck for main course had been cooked in a water bath and hence had a strange spongy texture - a friend couldn't eat hers because she found it so unpleasant. The mac and cheese was ok but nothing special. For desert the Tarte Tatin was ok but had a layer of marmalade in it which was not necessary plus pieces of cold, raw apple were sprinkled on top which did not go with the dish! The cheese plate was disappointing too - the cheeses looked processed and not ripe - not what you expect in a good quality restaurant.
Finally, the plates were that annoying texture of ironstone that makes a horrible scratchy sound against the cutlery.
The decor is nice and with the fire lit it was cosy but at £25 average per main course they need to do better!!

Visited Hawkyns for Friday lunch.
Party of 5 all had different dishes and were all impressed with the food and service.
Myself I went for the Scallops starter, Fish & Chips main with truffled mac & cheese and the fill your own doughnuts for dessert.
Each dish was cooked to perfection, I can honestly say this was the best fish I have ever tasted, the vinegar scraps served with the fish were amazing (as were the crispy chips)
All the staff were pleasant, friendly and knowledgeable.
We had no complaints whatsoever and so were unable to test their complaints handling (but that can only be a good thing)
I will be going back without a doubt.
Fantastic!

Truly delicious and beautifully presented food. Loved the décor and choice of tableware. Thoroughly enjoyed my starter and main. Good sized portions, you will not go hungry! Our group decided to share a few puddings and they were also stunning to look at. Delicious, they certainly were. Best meal by far in a long time.
