Could not fault anything from the moment we walked through the door. Lovely cosy atmosphere, while choosing our meal. Down stairs to the restaurant had a lovely ambience. The food was delicious. Would highly recommend.

Decided to try Beswicks for a birthday meal for my husband. Very warm welcome and was nice to sit and have a drink in the lounge while deciding what to eat. The restaurant is quite quirky and lots of interesting things to look at.

The menu choice was really good with a bistro menu and an a la carte choice. All the food we ordered was delicious and served very efficiently and the portions were very generous. A good selection
of wines too.
We'll definitely be eating here again highly recommended!

Decided to try for a change and were delighted with our evening. As soon as we entered the restaurant we were not disappointed, we were greeted by Joanne who made us feel very welcome, we were served drinks and our order taken. We were not rushed and the atmosphere was very relaxing. The quaint restaurant downstairs was perfect, we enjoyed reading the messages that were left on the wine bottles from as early as 2002. The food was fantastic, the baileys creme bulee was to die for, as was the cheese board. We will definitely be returning, and will be recommending to friends and family.

It is the fourth time I've visited this restaurant in Cumbria. Sometimes with family, old and young. Sometimes with friends, and sometimes with both. We've been served over 20 three course meals which haven't failed to please. A good range of food, something for everyone carnivores and vegetarians. Excellent puddings. And a superb selection of reasonably priced but wonderful quality wines. Price, taste and atmosphere. The front of house provides a warm welcome and witty banter. We'll be back again soon.

Being vegetarians, it can get a bit disheartening trying to find a lovely, intimate restaurant that doesn't serve-up mushroom risotto, vegetarian cannelloni or stuffed peppers.

I had mushroom, spinach and cashew-nut roulade while Ian had avocado bake, both of which were delicious and from a menu with a good selection of unusual vegetarian dishes to choose from.

We loved the traditional, English-style surroundings and top quality service. The hot vegetable accompaniments (including delicious hasselback potatoes and juniper-infused braised cabbage) were served by hand by the waiter, rather than being on the plate already - not often you get served vegetables in that manner these days!

After an equally delicious dessert, we were led upstairs to the comfortable sitting area where we were served bottom-less cup filter coffees.

The wine list was extensive with plenty to choose from, and everything was very reasonably priced.

The two gentleman who served us did so effortlessly and looked after a busy evening's guests with perfection, while still having the time to make polite conversation with the diners. We didn't see any other staff, so assumed these two efficient gentleman had got their top quality service skills off to a fine art.

All in all, would highly recommend and will definitely be visiting again as there were many more unusual vegetarian choices I can't wait to get tasting!
